The second season premiere of "Man VS Food" aired last night on the Travel Channel. For those of you who haven’t seen the show, host Adam Richman goes across the country and partakes in various cities food challenges. From the over indulgent to the killer spicy, this non-professional competitive eater throws his hat into the ring to take on gluttony.
In the first season, Richman took on some of the spiciest delicacies such as the hottest curry at Brick Lane Curry House, a 10 chilies ramen at Orochon Ramen, and the Hellfire Challenge at SmokeEater’s. He conquered each one and moved on to the next city. The plucky host may finally have met his match when he took on the Four Horsemen, a burger containing a sautéed mix of jalapeno, serrano, habanero, and ghost chili topped with a habanero sauce at Chunky’s in San Antonio, Texas. The challenge was to finish the burger in twenty-five minutes and then survive the five-minute after-burn without any cool down methods. Upon arriving at the restaurant, he witness a man give up on his attempt of the Four Horsemen and proceeded to question where he should even try. Of course, he didn’t back down. Take a look at the clip to see craziness ensue.
Food and travel definitely go hand in hand with this cable gem. Viewers are able to indulge in some of the most mouthwatering treats without really indulging. I’m guessing that’s why people watch. If you were Richman, would you stuff the four hottest chilies down your throat? I definitely wouldn’t try, but that’s just me.
Next week, Richman will be in Vegas taking on the Big Badass Burrito at the NASCAR Café in the Sahara Hotel and Casino.
