The Chisago Lakes Triathlon is the "MN Long Distance Championship Race" for 2011

The Chisago Lakes Area Half Iron Triathlon has been named the "Minnesota State Long Distance Triathlon Championship" for 2011. This is the 6th annual event and will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Paradise Park in Chisago. Over $5000 in prize money will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in the Half Iron. The overall male and female winners will receive the Minnesota State Long Distance Triathlon award.

The Chisago Lakes Area Triathlon is in its sixth year and the momentum has not stopped since the inaugural event. In its second year the event won third place for the "Best Triathlon" in the State of Minnesota. Currently it is the fastest growing triathlon in Minnesota. Situated in Chisago City, this triathlon has a hometown feel, but is easy to get to as it is only 40 miles outside of the Twin Cities.

The event offers both a Half Iron Distance as well as a Sprint Distance triathlon. The sprint distance includes a ¼-mile swim, 20-mile bike, and 3.1-mile run, while the Half Iron participants will endure a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run.   Take advantage of the early bird specials now - $40 for the sprint and $85 for the half.

Athletes will enjoy a course that is charming from start to finish. The swim starts and finishes at the beautiful Paradise Beach on Chisago Lake. The bike and run travel through the Chisago Area communities of Stacy, Almelund, Taylor Falls, Sunrise and North Branch, along fairly flat roads.
