Since Barack Obama has taken office, it is becoming increasing clear that he is not the savior the American people thought they were voting for. For all his talk of change, and all his progressive posturing, it's business as usual in Washington.
From the start, Obama was a sort of blank image, an empty shell created by public relations firms and media outlets. He garnered incredible support from the majority of the American people using words like hope, change and unity. Obama never had any real stances on issues or polices. To quote MIT linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky "Obama’s handlers, the campaign managers, have created an image that is essentially a blank slate. In the Obama campaign the words are hope, change, unity – totally vacuous slogans said by a nice person, who looks good and talks nicely – what commentators call 'soaring rhetoric' – and you can write anything you like on that blank slate.”
Instead of a man, the American people get “Brand Obama”, something that is a pure media construction. Obama isn't the first President like this. Ronald Reagan and JFK were both created my the media. Chomsky states that Reagan “probably didn't even know what the policies (in Washington) were, but he was a creation of the media.” Even though Reagan was in the White House, he was always just an actor, portraying a cowboy who would save the American people.
Kennedy was pure Hollywood with his movie star looks and the glamor of Camelot. Kennedy talked about the New Frontier and “what you can do for your country.” But this was the President that launched the invasion of South Vietnam and set into motion the para-military and economic repression of South America.
So what have have the American people really gotten with Obama in office. Chomsky says: “With the rhetorical flourishes stripped away, Obama presents himself as more or less as a familiar centrist Democrat, roughly on the Clinton model. His early appointments and advisers conform to that judgment.” It's clear Obama is not really progressive. He chose Joe Biden for Vice President and Biden was one of the strongest supporters of invading Iraq in the Senate. The choice of Biden shows the utmost contempt for the people that actually believed in Brand Obama.
Obama pays a lot of lip service to improving the economy, but he chose to run with Robert Rubin as Secretary of the Treasury and Larry Summers as Director of the National Economic Council. Both men are veterans of the Clinton Administration and helped engineer the financial crisis America faces now.Robert Rubin spent 26 years at Goldman Sachs before his government appointment and positively reeks “conflict of interest.”
When we cut to the chase, we can see that Obama is a cruel hoax. He works for Wall Street and is an agent of finance capital. Every single appointment Obama has made support the status quo. Every single one is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Trilateral Commission, and the Bilderburger Group.
There are legitimate reasons the people voted for Obama: to express their rage and discontent against the GOP and the neocons. People felt that George W. Bush was selling them down the river by creating endless war in the Middle East. The public had become alienated. The polls said that 80% of the population believed the country was run by a few big financial interests. Obama promised change, and as outrageous as that may seem coming from a man groomed and handled by Wall Street, the American people had become desperate and willing to grasp at straws, at the faintest glimmer of hope. The Obama phenomenon and American terror and desperation go hand in hand.
Rapper and Activist KRS-1 summed it up nicely in the documentary Obama Deception by saying: “They just put a black face on the New World Order.”

Centerist??? What have you been drinking? He's a complete socialist if you bother to listen to his past statements. He even said health care reform is "just a step" to complete a single payer system, = socialism. Clinton was a centerist, if only for his own polititical survival. BO is dedicated to the cause.

Obama is a centrist. If I was the "Socalist President" first, all the companies I bailed out would be nationalized. Second, scumbags like Bernakie and the slimeballs from Goldman Sachs would be breaking rocks in a re-education camp after their televised trials for treason and profit speculation. Third, the Federal Reserve would be replaced by a Peoples Bank controlled by elected representatives, not a bunch of globalist bankers.
I couldn't agree more with Jason Richardson. Obama is an extreme centrist, an exponent of unlimited power of the central government, and that more than any other thing makes him dangerous. He is not the slightest bit different from what Bush and Cheney were. They expanded the Central Government drastically and President Obama is continuing in that tradition. That's the only thing I have against the man.
Obama is quite the enigma. He is clearly bought and paid for by Wall St just like all presidents are but he's also an extreme radical with friends like Bill Ayers and Van Jones. He claims to be a constitutional professor and yet everything he does violates the constitution.
I see we have a lot of socialists here. I wish you fools would seek to gather a full understanding of what the US Constitution and Bill of Rights mean before you embrace socialism - and learn how disastrous socialism has been throughout recent history.
IMO, this is still better than what would have been in store for us if we had McPalin. Again, it's all about the lesser of the two evils.
Socialism is a vague and misused word.
Take a Stalinist country like North Korea and compare it to an America where people pay taxes to pay for the fire department, police, and post office. Both of these scenarios contain elements of socialism.
I know people on the far right sometimes envision a perfect world where rugged individuals all live in isolated cabins and fend for themselves. But isn't there a such thing as community? Should all human interaction be reduced to "the market?"
And yes citizen, Obama was the least of two evils. We may have averted a bit of war and terror keeping Mccain out of office, but we have to be aware of whatever game Obama's handlers are playing.
There were other choices during the primary--Dennis Kucinich was the REAL progressive candidate (I voted for him during the primary), but he was censored by big media that pushed for an Obama vs Clinton race. We got screwed.
Then there was the GREEN PARTY candidate in the main presidential election, Cynthia McKinney. That's who I voted for.
People need to watch the primary debates and pay attention to what the candidates actually say, research their platforms and their past votes on issues, and vote accordingly. You can't trust big media anymore to give you the truth. Unfortunately, Americans are too lazy to find out the truth for themselves.
The Democratic is NOT a progressive party, they are the new Republican party, and the Republicans are the new whackos.
I wish Dennis Kucinich would switch to the Green party and run for president in 2012.
Palin would have been great as she is a true independent. Trouble is she should have been the top of the ticket!

i am thinking about the need in USA of a United Jeffersonian-Socialist Front composed of small socialist and alternative anti-war, anti-fascism, anti-rich people, anti-upper classes, anti-concentration of wealth, pro-workers, pro-economic democracy, pro-moralism, pro-humanism, pro-egalitarianism parties in USA.
This is just an idea in my mind which i will suggest to some socialist political leaders of this country, to see what they think about it, it might be called "United Jeffersonian-Socialist Front", which would be based on the humanist christian traditions of: Jeffersonian, Lincolnian, Washingtonian, Christian, Marxist, Trotskist and humanism ideology. And which would include the following political parties, politicians and independent intellectuals:

This article is spot on! Chomsky really breaks it down and studies what is happening as it is happening. Most of us don't get it until after the fact. Bait and Switch indeed.
It seems the left is busy praising him as if he was the messiah, the right wingers are busy calling him a socialist, communist or worrying about whether he's born in America. He's only a socialist the same Bush was. Socialist for the elite, capitalism for everybody else.
