The winds have been fiercely blowing across the plains of North Dakota for the past couple of days. To a native, this is not abnormal weather in the slightest. To a visitor, however, it might seem like you stepped into a wind tunnel.
At first, wind may seem annoying, but seemingly harmless. After all, the wind towers bring in lots of energy. However, wind also brings in many problems. Dangerous road conditions, crops and trees are damaged, and roads beginning to deteriorate are just some of the issues.
Wind, in and of itself, is not the only problem. With gusts picking up to nearly 60 mph, recent fires across the prairie have been raising concerns, specifically for farmers. Several wild fires have been spotted this week. Fortunately, there has been no extensive damage reported.
These winds are also affecting the seasons. It is beginning to look a lot more like autumn. Leaves are barely hanging onto the branches. Everyone in North Dakota knows what autumn means. Winter is just around the corner.
Are you ready?
