Prada, which is staging an invitation-only party to mark its opening here, rolls into town on a wave a recent controversy.
The Los Angeles Times was among the first American outlets to report that Prada’s latest ad campaign was officially banned last week by London’s Advertising Standards Authority because it portrayed a child in a “potentially life-threatening situation”.
Ironically: partial sales proceeds from Prada store’s grand opening bash at Lenox Square will benefit the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta charity.

She’s shown seated astride a rusty railroad track; wiping her eye as if there’s either debris or a tear in it.
According to British press reports culled by LATimes.com, Prada publicists in the UK have sought to explain since last week that the provocative image is part of a short film shot by Weber that is meant for “adult” shoppers consideration.
Chief designer Miuccia Prada has produced a Fall/Winter ’11 collection described on Style.com as “gorgeous” and the epitome of “innocent glamour”.
A picture may paint a thousand words. But sometimes those words get confused.
