"Surely you can't be serious? I am serious, and don't call me Sherly." This famous quote from the movie Airplane! comes to mind while watching this clip of an all-wheel drive Chevrolet Express van smoke a Corvette ZR1 on the drag strip. Complete with a stock 5.3 liter Vortec V8, stock heads, Corvette Z06 cam, stock intercooler from the Chevrolet trucks, and a 72mm turbo makes this one nasty van that's worthy of the title ultimate. Racing through the quarter mile, the Express smokes the ZR1 off the line and continues the embarrassment all the way to the finish. How is this possible?
With all-wheel drive and the curb weight to get a perfect launch backed up by the 72mm turbo for the remainder of the run, it's really no surprise that the van won the race. With a curb weight of 7,300 pounds, it shouldn't win the race but it does despite the god-like competitor racing in the other lane. Who knew that adding a bad driver to the equation would allow the mighty ZR1 to be defeated by a lowly van. Discuss this article with CarDomain.com

Truth be told, this van actually has a pretty powerful setup. The 5.3 liter stock makes 301 horsepower at 5,200 RPM and 325 foot pounds of torque at just 4,500 RPM. With those power ratings, it's safe to say the Z06 cam adds another 40 points to the power ratings in both horsepower and torque. Now we're at 340/365; add the turbocharger and we can easily be sitting 600+ horsepower and 600+ foot pounds of torque. Coupled with all-wheel drive and a bad launch on behalf of the ZR1, we get the following video.

LOL, Corvette had a terrible start off the line. Must have been distracted by something. With a proper driver at the wheel, the vette would have smoked that van.
