Singer/songwriter Amy Barbera sings with a purpose. A professionally trained session vocalist, Barbera has the voice of someone who knows exactly how to use it- literarily and figuratively. In her debut album, Beautiful Flower of Life, we are treated to an array of exquisitely written and composed inspirational songs. “I am truly inspired by God above,” says Barbera. That along with her own life experiences inspired her to write songs that, “ . . . make a difference in the world.”
There is no doubt when listening to Barbera’s music that her desire is to bring hope, healing, and encouragement, to a world in need is authentic. Barbera has surmounted her own challenges as well. She overcame anorexia as a teenager as well as undergoing surgery to have vocal cord nodules removed, risking losing the voice that brings inspiration to so many.
Singing since she was a little girl, Barbera, who was a lead vocalist for the Living Word Fellowship Church Praise and Worship music team, has performed for national organizations such as the Kiwanis Club and the Shriner's Hospitals. Her song, Make Me A Butterfly, was used on the reality show, Ruby, aired on The Style Network.
Barbera writes all the lyrics herself including the lyrical composition and melody lines for three songs from the album, Make Me A Butterfly, I Need You, and Your Love Is So Real. The remaining songs were collaborations that included Producers such as Ben Bagby and Don Coleman. She is also an accomplished performer. Barbera “. . . mesmerizes audiences with her inspirational performances every time she graces the stage,” according to Don Coleman of A/R Group International.
“I want people to know that God truly loves them,” states Barbera, “and that they are special and created with purpose. It is my mission to bring the love of God to the world through the artistic gift that he has blessed me with.”
What’s next for Amy Barbera? Currently, she is working with Cross Promotions Inc, promoting her music and booking shows throughout South Florida. She is also at work on new songs, including an uplifting dance song entitled Paint Me A Rainbow. Her goal is to release a new album in the next year and tour internationally.
“I am really trusting God and I know he has the most amazing plans for me beyond what I could think or imagine,” says Barbera, with the utmost faith that, “With God all things are possible. The possibilities are endless!”
