Top 10 healthy New Year's resolutions

New Year's Resolutions are on a lot of people's minds with the New Year coming up, but resolutions can bring a sense of disappointment and guilt when we start breaking them.

Instead of a list of broad New Year's Resolutions, make small, easy-to-accomplish resolutions. Here are some tips to help you make better and healthier New Year's Resolutions:

1). Give up one sugary beverage a day and exchange it for water.
2.) Give up one desert or pastry a day and substitute fruit.
3.) Give up one bag of chips a day and substitute nuts or raw vegetables.
4.) Give up fried fish and fried chicken for roasted or grilled.
5.) Give up french fries and onion rings for healthier options.
6.) Take up walking.
7.) Take one flight of stairs at work every day instead of the elevator.
8.) Take up jogging. 
9.) Join an exercise program, take up a sport, or dancing.
10.) Give up one cigarette a day

Take advantage of the New Year to look at your health and habits and see if there aren't 2 or 3 small, realistic changes you can make in your daily routine in 2012 to make your life healthier. Let those small changes be your New Year's Resolutions, and you will have a much better chance of success.
