Albany area runners looking for a destination race that combines an historical location, a variety of sightseeing and amusement opportunities, and that supports a good cause need look no further than Williamsburg, Virginia. The town is the running place to be for the weekend of May 21-22, 2011 as it hosts the inaugural Run for the Dream race event.
Hosted by Colonial Williamsburg, Run for the Dream gives runners the opportunity to run through the streets of our nation’s founding fathers and Virginia’s colonial capital in either the half-marathon or an 8K run/walk. The 8K will take place on May 21 and the half-marathon on May 22. There will also be a fun run for kids 14 and younger, which will be held on May 21.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to An Acheivable Dream, a nationally recognized school dedicated to the education of all children regardless of their socioeconomic background, and Wounded Warriors, programs dedicated to assisting and advocating for the injured members of the armed forces and their families.
