For about a year now there has been a great deal of debate about whether or not President Barack Obama is truly a natural born American citizen. According to the Constitution, Article 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born citizen…shall be eligible to the office of president.” The Obama campaign and administration have always claimed that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. A Certificate of Live Birth was presented by the Obama campaign showing that Obama is an American citizen[1]; however, Hawaiian law didn’t require Obama to actually have been born in Hawaii in order to obtain this registration.[2] This, among other things, has created a public outcry – from a group now referred to as “birthers” – for Obama to show his long form birth certificate, which would disclose information such as which hospital he was born in, who delivered him, etc. that would solidify the fact that he actually was born in America. The Obama campaign and administration have failed to present this document to anyone. Instead, they have been suppressing the issue using two tactics: hiring lawyers to defend him against the legal dilemma – such as lawyer Perkins Coie, who was paid $688,316[3] – and creating the ignorant propaganda, repeated by many liberals, that anyone who questions Obama’s eligibility is weird, crazy or racist. The liberal mainstream media has propagated the latter tactic through news broadcasts, such as Nightly News with Brian Williams, which incorrectly assert that Obama has proven his eligibility.[4]
Recently a Californian attorney, Orly Taitz, publicly released a copy of Obama’s Kenyan birth certificate.
Taitz has filed a motion in the U.S. District Court for authenticating the document, but as of right now, the birth certificate appears authentic. As World News Daily reports, “No doctor is listed. But the alleged certificate bears the signature of the deputy registrar of Coast Province, Joshua Simon Oduya. It was allegedly used as a certified copy of the original in February 1964. WND was able to obtain other birth certificates from Kenya for purposes of comparison, and the form of the documents appear to be identical. Despite the fact that a hoax document similar in nature circulated the Internet last week, WND reports that the document ‘bears none of the obvious traits of a hoax.’”

Taitz told WND: “I filed the motion with the court asking for expedited discovery, which would allow me to start subpoenas and depositions even before Obama and the government responds. I am asking the judge to give me the power to subpoena the documents from the Kenyan embassy and to require a deposition from Hillary Clinton so they will be forced to authenticate [the birth certificate].”[6] The birth certificate was discovered by an anonymous source, who feared publicity because of the possibility of retaliation.

Many Obama supporters have naively claimed that the birther movement has been ridiculous because there is no way the government would allow such a thing to ever happen. Obviously, this discovery raises the question of who allowed this to happen and how honest the American government truly is to its people. Who are the Obama administration and the government really working for?
The answer to this question can be found by answering another: who funded Obama’s campaign, which was the most expensive campaign ever? Here’s a start: his top contributor was Goldman Sachs, who just profited $12 billion last quarter after being a primary recipient of Obama’s bailout money.
[8] Another primary recipient and top 5 Obama-funder was JP Morgan Chase, who profited $2.7 billion last quarter after receiving bailout money.
[9] And the list goes on. Obama works for the interests of big bankers like a reverse Robin Hood: steal from the poor, give to the really rich. And the
really scary reality to research is who owns these banks.
[10] In fact, the same people that funded Bush into office funded Obama, who also funded McCain and the Clintons.
[11] One would have to be extraordinarily naïve to think that such funding wouldn’t come without a price. After doing the research, it becomes clear that Obama is just a puppet of bankers and hasn’t turned out to be the “savior” he was purported to be. It will be interesting to see what the mainstream media discloses about this.

The main problem is that it's nder a Republic of Kenya heading, but the nation didn't officially become a republic until the December after this certified copy was issued.
Kenya became independent in 1963 thus the birth certificate contains the correct data if it were to be true.

Nice research. I didn't know about this website; however, if you look at the comments on the bottom, it appears the debunk of this certificate has been debunked. Kenya in fact was called the "Republic of Kenya" per their 1963 Constitution. The other things on there were just coincidences. As for the organization called "Free Republic," I'm not seeing anything but heresay regarding that. I don't really trust this debunk's heresay if it's not all accurate.
To be honest, I don't really want to claim it's authentic yet, as it hasn't been officially declared so, but it appears to be.

My certificate is the same as the one that is listed. Same registrar. This is copy of original.
Copy was request after Obama born. The date on the form is the date of the request for copy not for date of birth. So it is legitimate. My sister also has one. She was born 1961.

@dave: What you are failing to notice is that news outlets are picking up on this because of the HUGE Lou Dobbs debacle which has been panned and debunked countless times at this point. Birthers are becoming a spectacle, it's sort of sad. Why release this story, when Geoff should clearly wait until the document is authenticated, before pushing a story which hinges on the authenticity of the document. Geoff takes that authenticity for granted and writes a sensationalist story with 0 credibility, and fallacious citations.

They don't need to release it. All they need to do is take a picture of the long form certificate. The "Certificate of Live Birth" could be obtained at the time in Hawaii much like a driver's licence could've been. They are used for records and are used to aid the gears of the system. Having that certificate on file doesn't preclude the existence of an actual long-form "birth certificate," which would have all of the information regarding the birth.
I don't doubt he's registered in that capacity, as he didn't need to be a natural born citizen to do so. Hawaiian officials claim to have on record his "Certificate of Live Birth," not his long-form "Birth Certificate." Propaganda on the television only pretends like the Certificate his administration unvieled actually means anything. Afterall, if it did, then people would shut up about the whole thing. It is just easy to fool people into thinking it's real because most are ignorant of its actual relevance.

And why should you? Digital pictures are easily edited and altered. how else can you explain this ridiculous hoax of a Kenyan certificate? Also, this form is not "long-form": there is no mention of doctors or nurses in attendance at birth, etc. so why do u accept it?
US law (based on several US precedents, which I won't feed you, you'll have to look it up yourself) states that only 1 parent must be a natural born citizen in order for citizenship to be imparted to the offspring. They also don't have to be born in the US for that citizenship to be imparted. So I still fail to see how this hoax certificate could prove anything?

Even if a long-form certificate was obtained from Hawaii, if one exists in Kenya, it nullifies the U.S. citizenship. Kenya doesn't recognize dual citizenship and the U.S. doesn't recognize it if the other country claimed doesn't recognize it.
I do agree that even a picture may be forged but I think it doesn't bode well for Obama that no effort to prove his citizenship is being made. Do you think he registered with the Selective Service? Go look that up: he didn't.
This Kenyan document only neglects the doctor, which may be because he was born outside of the hospital. I believe that's what his Kenyan family claims, anyway. In fact, from what I understand, the house he was born in is now a big tourist attraction. He's from the Lou Tribe I believe.

Am a Kenyan and I know that in Kenya all you need to do is offer someone from Sheria House 1000 kenyan shillings and you will get a birth certificate in a day! Anyway, having a Kenyan cerificate doesnt guarantee citizenship. That's the law in Kenya. So, it is possible that that birth certificate was "bought". Kenya is a non-member participant n the 1961 Hague Convention. Meaning you DO NOT need Congress to authenticate. Go to Kenya, obtain a copy from the public office, have the copy "Apostilled" and the document is authenticated for international use.

2. The document is dated 5 August 1964 -- a Saturday. From what I can find, Kenyan guvmint offices close early on Friday and are closed on Saturdays. Oooops.

No real controversy here. Just read the constitution...not the part you quoted, but, the other part...about "one parent" being a U.S. citizen... gives the child citizenship.
Citizenship is not the same as being a natural born citizen. McCain was almost ineligible to run for president because he was born outside of the U.S. on a military base. The courts determined that the military base could be considered U.S. soil, so he was allowed to run. Natural born is more than just being a citizen, read the constitution again. Obama's mother had not lived in the U.S. long enough and was not old enough to confer natural born status anyway. This will likely collapse our country as all of Obama's massive stimulus will be invalid and all the money pulled back from the banks. This will in turn collapse our financial system and government. I think evil designing people planned this to destroy our country.

If we can suggest those are a fraud, we've really got them on the run, whether or not Kenya was actually a republic when the Republic of Kenya birth certificate was supposedly made.

NO. If Obama has a copy of his original birth certificate saved from the time of birth, he can release it. However, if he does not have a copy of the original. If he lost it or his parents lost it, as many of us do. Then all that Hawaii sends is the short-form certification. That is the official birth certificate of Hawaii now, and it is what it sends to everyone.
So, the fault is Hawaii's, not Obama's. Hawaii will not release the copy of the original birth certificate because those are its rules. It should change its rules. If we petition Hawaii to change its rules, it is likely to change the rules. The governor of Hawaii is Linda Lingle.

I thought that in order for Barack Obama, Jr. (born Aug. 4 1961) to be a natural born citizen of the usa to a [1] parent that that parent must be a resident of the usa for at least 10 years and 5 of those years after the age of 14,before the birth of a child, which means that Obama Jr's. mother, Stanley Ann Dunham (born November 29 1942) was required to have been 19 years of age, in accordance with naturalization regulations, before the birth of Obama Jr., which she wasn't. On the issue of the Hawaii certification of live birth, Stanley Ann's mother or father could have gone to the Hawaii Department of Health and filled out the form on August 8, 1961, the date the original Birth registration is indicated to have been filed in Hawaii. It would have been a simple matter of taking some evidence to show Stanley Ann had been a resident of Hawaii for the required period of time. Nothing else would have been necessary and Hawaii would have issued the birth certificate, plus provided the information to the local newspaper for publication in the "Birth announcement" section.
Probably this would have been the most convenient way to get the documentation to bring little baby Barry back into the US. We know from Stanley Ann's lies and shortcuts in the 1964 divorce proceeding that she had little problem with manipulating the system when it suited her.

There are 6 million other Americans who cannot produce their birth certificates on demand either, but they are called Adoptees.
Right now, in all but 6 states, adoptees are denied access to their original birth certificates under state law just because of the circumstances of their birth. If people really wanted to do this country a favor, they would be concerned about them. In fact we all should care about the fight to open birth records to the people who own them.
