We were asked to try out Pillsbury’s new Funfetti glazed Lil’ donut kits. Since they are baked and not fried, we thought that it might be a fun thing to try.

We started with the vanilla flavored kit. The instructions were simple. Add water and butter to the donut mix and stir until combined. Then we had to roll the mix into balls and place on a greased baking sheet. They only bake for 10-12 minutes, so this treat is quick to make. While they were baking we mixed up the glaze with a little milk and poured the sprinkles into a bowl so we were ready to decorate these little beauties.

Twelve minutes flew by and by the end, the kitchen was smelling really good. We let the donuts cool for about 2 minutes, then dipped the tops into the glaze and added sprinkles to the wet glaze. They tasted more like a soft cookie than a donut but they are a perfect snack for kids. Better yet, even young kids can make these. They are that easy.

All in all, from start to finish this took about 30-35 minute. It was quick, easy and a perfect project even for young children.

It is clear that these are more for kids than adults. The sprinkles both inside and outside of the donut make that evident. But an adult might enjoy a few with a nice cup of tea. If you are looking for sophisticated flavors, these are not for you. If you are looking for something your kids will love and can even help prepare, then run out to the store and buy them today.

There are three flavors available; vanilla, maple and chocolate. We will be making the maple donuts in the next few days.

You can buy these little treats at your local Safeway, Fry's and Basha's grocery store in Mesa or throughout the valley. You will find them by the cake mixes.
