Movie review: Bernie Torme: Stratocaster Gypsy: From the Early Days of Gillian

Bernie Torme spent the last 20 years of his solo career running around the world performing for his fans. This video brings together tracks from the Irish guitarist such as "Ghost Walking", "Sex Action", and more.

There is no doubt Torme is a very talented guitarist. Sadly, this video doesn’t do much to showcase his talent.
Video production is absolutely disgusting. The video looks like it was filmed by someone using one of the original camcorders with a tape that had been already used a few dozen times, couldn’t find their way around the cords and amps on the stage, and has a strange fixation on the singer and seeing lights through fog.

Sound was abysmal. Obviously a concert filming and not a production for video, the lack of quality comes through. At the concert itself I hope the building acoustics are to blame. If not, whomever was on the mixer should have his fingers removed. And if the lead singer actually sounds that bad in real life he should be given the newly vacated position of Mixer.

Again, Torme can play guitar but, this DVD just is not the place to hear or see it happen. Find your Torme elsewhere and you will be glad you did.

Nothing here to limit audience age.
