Struggling, and sexy, medical student Mary stumbles into an opportunity performing extreme body-modification surgeries. With her school debt piling up Mary jumps at the opportunity to make some quick cash. Or does she just enjoy performing surgery?

Katharine Isabelle (Mary), Antonio Cupo (Billy), Tristan Risk (Beatress), David Lovgren (Dr. Grant), Paula Lindberg (Ruby), Clay St. Thomas (Dr. Walsh), Twan Holliday (Lance), Nelson Wong (Dr. Black), John Tracy (Det. Dolor).

American Mary begins with a tease of the horror to come before distracting us with Mary's sexuality. A theme which doesn't change much throughout the rest of the movie. As she sinks deeper into the world of illegal surgeries and body-modification it becomes obvious that Mary enjoys performing surgeries as much as she enjoys the money. Although her penchant for performing surgeries wearing lingerie remains unexplained. Meanwhile the film does develop a decent if simple plot made interesting and complicated only by the horror lingerie aspect.

Acting was good with Isabelle pulling off her part quite nicely. Cupo also did well and played well against Isabelle. Risk was unusual to the point of being disturbing, while adding depth and entertainment. The remainder of the supporting cast did well, feeling practiced and well directed.

Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were good and the film appears to have had a decent budget. Horror effects were very well done with a realistic feel throughout. Costuming was also very nicely done. Dialogue was good felt quite natural, adding the reality of the film. Sound and soundtrack were both good.

American Mary makes the cut as a well done horror flick with an unusual plot that has good depth and variety. Horror fans will likely enjoy this one quite a bit while those unappreciative of alternative lifestyles may be repulsed or offended.

With plenty of gore, violence, rape, and foul language save this for the oldest teens and above.
