What could be better mid-winter than an escape to Hawaii? Cheryl Linn Martin's new release, Menehunes Missing is book two in the Hawaiian Detective Club series. The first, Pineapples in Peril, continues to receive five-star reviews on Amazon.com.
"Nancy Drew is back--and she's Hawaiian!" -- Jessica Nelson
In Menehunes Missing we join Leilani as she tries to solve the mystery of the missing Menehune statues. Menehunes are legendary little people, and statues of them are a popular garden decoration. When some go missing during a school fundraiser event, Leilani, her pain-in-the-pants little brother, Kimo, and her friends, investigate.
This is such a fun story! An adventure-mystery set in Hawaii where the kids have to solve the crime—what's not to love?! It's the kind of adventure I drooled about having when I was in middle school. Even as an adult, I couldn't wait for the next chapter! -- Emily C. Reynolds.
Author, Cheryl Linn Martin's life experiences while a student at the University of Hawaii inspired her to combine her love for the exotic islands and her love for writing for ages 8-12.
The third book in the series, due out in August, is entitled Ukeleles Undercover.
Readers can get in touch with Martin through her website or her blog, "Life in Flipflops." She also has an author page on Facebook.
I give this book five stars because it combines my love for wholesome fiction for young people, my fascination with Hawaii and my unabashed admiration for young sleuths. In Menehunes Missing, Martin has a bona fide winner.
Martins books are entertaining and fun but they'd also make a fantastic supplement in a unit study on Hawaii. Your kids are going to love these books. And so will you.
