Hiro 88

Hiro 88, a sushi and pan-Asian restaurant, opened its third location in Lincoln’s West Haymarket this past September. Its Omaha locations have won several awards, including the Wine Enthusiasts Award of Excellence.

Hiro 88 is just a short walk from Pinnacle Bank Arena, making it a hot spot for concert and Husker event goers. They are located at 601 R St, Suite #100. A nearby parking garage makes parking convenient, but parking may be difficult if an event is scheduled in the arena.

There is no shortage of fresh seafood at Hiro 88 with fish being flown in 3 times per week. Sushi is prepared in the main dining area, so customers can observe the skilled chefs construct their sushi. The menu features over 40 sushi rolls.

Selection includes anything from traditional California and Spider rolls to a variety of Hiro 88’s favorites (Hiro 88, Firecracker, and Wasabi Stinger rolls are a few). For the sushi-loving Husker fan, they offer the Husker Roll, made with tempera beef tenderloin, asparagus, cream cheese, and eel sauce.

If a personal favorite fish or roll is not on the menu, Hiro 88 encourages recommendations for specials.

Sashimi and nigiri are other popular menu items. The sashimi selection ranges from red snapper to fatty tuna. Nigiri lovers can pick from a variety of choices as well, including stuffed fried tofu and crab.

Hiro 88’s dinner menu also has traditional Chinese dishes, such as Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Chicken, and signature entrees like barbecue short ribs, braised chicken served in a Thai curry sauce, and peanut butter chicken.

The best thing about Hiro 88 is the happy hour specials. Happy hour includes soups for $2 and appetizers like edamame ($3.50), fried gyoza ($4), and Asian short ribs ($6). Also, 32 rolls, nigiri, and sashimi are offered starting at $3.50.
