"Angels Sing" is a sweet 2013 family Christmas movie starring Harry Connick, Jr., "Nashville's" Connie Britton, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Kris Kristofferson, Chandler Canterbury, and Fionnula Flanagan.
Connick plays history professor Michael Walker who avoids most of the trappings of Christmas after a childhood holiday skating accident takes his older brother. Even though his parents, wife, son and the rest of his family try to involve him in the holiday spirit, Michael just can't find the Christmas spirit. To make matters worse, their lease is running out and they have no place to move.
However, a seemingly chance encounter with the mysterious Nick after an odd bicycle accident involving a reindeer put Michael and his family in the perfect home... right in the middle of Live Oak Lane, the street that decorates wildly each year for the Christmas "Trail of Lights." Michael chooses not to decorate and becomes the Grinch of the neighborhood until a tragic accident threatens to take the joy of Christmas away from his son.
Is Nick an angel as the wings on the back of his jacket might indicate or is he Santa Claus as his name and Santa Claus vest imply? Some mysteries are not explained, but that lends charm to a wholesome family-friendly movie, sprinkled with humor, tinged with tragedy, and full of the joy, magic and music of the season.
