Western Oklahoma churches take up the 30 day challenge

What would you do if you only had one month to live?

Western Oklahoma gears up to take the One Month to Live challenge during the 2010 season of Lent.  Often we think of giving up something for Lent.  Chocolate, extra calories of every kind, smoking, cursing, watching too much television, complaining, and many others flush out the Lenten list.

Often, this just seems like a rerun of New Year's resolutions.  Sometimes this sacrificial practice produces growth in those doing their best to follow Christ.  Sometimes, it just produces more frustration, more to struggle with.

This year why not consider giving up something else during this season.  Why not give up our excuses for not living life to the fullest extent possible. Why not do the things that we would do if we only had one month to live.

The One Month to Live program is a very provocative challenge.  It asks all who participate one simple question.  What would you do if you only had one month to live?

The answers from those who have taken this challenge range from seeking forgiveness, going on that special vacation, and robbing a bank.  I don't think anyone actually robbed a bank, but we might surprise ourselves at the things we say at first.

If we stick with the challenge for the full month, we will also surprise ourselves at how much more abundant our lives can be RIGHT NOW!

Take the challenge wherever you are.  Just follow along online on link up with a church in western Oklahoma.  Check out these links:  www.greatplainschallenge.com and One Month to Live Burns Flat.

OMTL kicks off in western Oklahoma on 21 February 2010.
