Iran declares war on US, caught paying terrorists to kill troops

I was just last night wondering what became of Iran's would-be revolutionaries. Iran's Green Revolution last summer moved people the world over.

It also changed perceptions. Those who previously thought Iranians were backwards fundamentalist crazies discovered an educated, enlightened, technologically savvy populace who longs for democracy.

The Iranian people are modern and peaceful people who want freedom -- it's their violently Medieval government which is the enemy of progress. (They share that in common with the United States.)

The ruling Islamo-fascist class would not give up power easily, and by 'easily' I mean 'at all'. They chose instead to slaughter their own children in the street. That the movement was led by students - particularly young women - only added to the tragedy.

The Iranian revolutionaries needed only a nudge from the West - some sign of unequivocal support - to let them know we had their backs and to fight on. They needed to know that America still stood for the the free and the brave against cowardice, greed, and fascism.

For disappointingly pragmatic reasons the United States government refused to give that support, either tacitly or explic. The President believed he was making strides towards a thaw in relationship between his country and Ahmadinejad's. The Green Revolution was blip, annoyingly delaying his peace plan.

I felt then, and still feel now, that Obama's pragmatism was misplaced: there can never be any peace with those who hate freedom and love violence, war, avarice, power. Making ‘peace' with Iran has thus always been a fool's errand. Iranian leaders do not know the meaning of the word. 

Obama thought he could teach them. But after all, Obama is the type of cat who thinks he could teach a paraplegic how to dougie.

It would have been better to stand on the side of democracy and let the chips fall, rather than betraying our principles again as we did two decades ago when we failed to stand with the Chinese student movement in Tiananmen Square. Both we and the Chinese people still pay the price of our timidity.

Obama declared as a candidate that he would meet with Iran's rulers with no "preconditions" - a statement which revealed his ‘not ready for prime time' status on Iranian issues. His government's ambivalence towards Iran's student revolution left only more questions.

How Obama responds to Iran's underground declaration of war on US troops will either renew Obama in the eyes of his countrymen or be the final nail in the coffin.

Iranian violence towards Iranians is one can of worms; Iranian violence towards Americans is a whole other pantry.

The Sunday Times, a British newspaper, has reported that Iranian businesses based in Kabul have put a price on the heads of US troops, offering Afghan Taliban terrorists $1,000 for each American scalp.

If you think those businesses are operating without the sanction and blessing and backing of the Iranian government, think again. They stone dudes in Iran who even have wet dreams without Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's expressed permission.

Wow. Okay, first of all, let me say that I don't know how American soldiers that go so devalued on the open market. I mean I know our economic woes have ruined US currency exchange values, but come on.

Secondly, Iran's plan to undermine the US military is destined to backfire. Just ask the Reagan administration, which helped create the Taliban-al Qaeda monster in the 80s when it armed and funded Afghan rebels in their fight against Soviet invaders -- otherwise known as the most disastrous American foreign policy move of the post-Vietnam era.

Finally, this is a chance for Obama to stand up, show some spine, and win back the respect of America. Having famously "opened his hand" to Iran, it is time to clench it and punch them dead in their nuclear balls.

He must behave less like a Wilson Democrat and more like a Truman Democrat. He must make it abundantly clear that if indeed we find Iranian boot tracks in the vicinity of a US soldier, Iran's leaders should expect to wake up with American warheads brushing their teeth for them.

Iran is no friend of America. They want to make the Afghan war impossible, just as they did in Iraq with their ‘open secret' aiding and abetting of Sunni insurgents against our troops.

Look, Iran's right-wing nutjob leaders hate us. We get it. So why are we making it so easy - relatively speaking - for them to go nuclear? Let's return the favor.

Let's see their $1,000 and raise them $100,000 and a case of Grey Goose to every KGB agent who kills any Iranian who's working on their nuclear project. Money talks, BS walks.

Or how about $1 billion to any Green Revolutionary who brings us the decapitated head of Ahmadinejad? Sure, we know that price is inflated 1,000,000% based on fair market value, but like grandma said you have to spend money to make peace with douchebags.
