I am not comparing the brutality of children and adults dying in Somalia. “It is good to be alive,” posted a Facebook friend, “every day above ground is a good day.” True even the starving fight for life and that there is poverty and hunger all over the world, to some, is an excuse to turn a blind eye.
BUT, does a blind eye work with the over 45,000 (forty-five thousand) people, that every year in the USA, die from lack of healthcare?
Because, in the USA, healthcare is for profit “the United States spends more on health care than any other country in the world" yet ranks 27th in the world in healthcare. "Many countries achieve higher life expectancy rates with significantly lower spending." The US Health and Human Services department found that “clean drinking water, and preventive health care” could be provided with little spending but when over FORTY-SIX MILLION "lack basic health insurance" preventive care is not an option. Cuba, Sri Lanka, China and the Indian State of Kerala are considered "low-income, high well-being" countries.
If a nation killed 45,000 people, a year wouldn't the USA and the world, go to their aid and stop the killing? Yet, here we are: the most prosperous nation in the world, letting politicians and greed KILL 45,000 people per year, and we do NOTHING.
Politicians, who say healthcare reform — which would provide preventive care — is bad for America, call it Obama-care to incite racist rage and huddle their masses into mean and aggressive opposition of healthcare reform. Pronounce unconstitutional the payment of a fair share. Not because the cost would be as it is now: a choice between dying or homelessness. So, it becomes constitutional to enforce death by lack of healthcare.
If it came to your family, whom would you condemn to death by lack of healthcare: Your child, your parent, your sibling, your friend, your neighbors, a student, an employee, or a homeless-person? The haves against the have-nots wage THE WAR against healthcare reform, and to keep healthcare for profit: pure and simple.
May you never find yourselves at the side of a loved one, or neighbor, or friend, whose life is snapped from them by the greedy and politicians whose families enjoy the BEST HEALTHCARE paid by tax payers. The same who cut into education while theirs are in private schools, pay subsidies to farmers rather than increase availability and eligibility for food stamps, subsidize corporations that gauge workers. Did you see them next to people lined up at the fee clinics? Did they care? Where were those pro-lifers? Where were those righteous Christian politicos?
Disability and AFDC roles are filling up with those who could be working but, because of lack of healthcare, have become too ill to be taxpayers; politicians call them lazy. Even though, those unemployed or underemployed once held high-paying jobs and paid taxes, even thought they are college graduates in debt because they pursued an education, even though they are Veterans.
Yet, jobs are stolen from America and workers are deprived from healthcare. Everyone in the world deserves a chance at a better life! But should we bless those who take our jobs overseas because we are not, YET, a sweatshop country? Should we vote for those who will keep their healthcare for life but deny healthcare for others? Should we pay taxes for their welfare? Should we fill their coffers with the blood of America’s needy?
Or should we vanquish them!
