Pastor Joel Osteen came to The View today to talk about his new book, It's Your Time, offering hope in troubled economic times.
His wife Victoria accompanied him to The View, and admitted that her husband does smile an awful lot, that it's a part of his nature to be so pleasant.
"Is it medication involved?" Joy Behar quipped.
Sherri Shepherd asked if he believed people are drawing close to God in these swine flu-filled times fraught with financial concerns.
"This too shall pass," Osteen said in his comforting way. "If we stay hopeful, that allows God to work in our lives."
What practical things draw the crowds en masse to Osteen's church, asked Elisabeth Hasslebeck, who noted the tons of folks who file into Pastor Joel's church weekend after weekend for spiritual advice that touches on all aspects of their lives, including their health and wealth.
"Jesus preached against materialism," Behar said, while Shepherd countered: "I don't think He preached against materialism."
"I have friends in Botswana who just got running water. They feel blessed," Pastor Osteen said.
"God's in control," Osteen assured.
Here's Whoopi asking if gay folks are welcome at church:

"I tell people to get up and find something to be grateful for," Osteen said to Barbara Walters, who questioned his beliefs. "God takes us through seasons and detours...it's a lot about your perspective.
Whoopi brought up the question of homosexuality. "I kind of like the groove you're in...are gay folks welcome at your church?"
"Of course, they are all welcome. But I come that value system of Scripture that homosexuality is not God's best...I just try to love them and treat everybody with respect."

Joel is amazing...you will never agree with someone %100..but he makes you see its ok 2 be different without starting a fight.
Joel showed that he is nothing more than a fence-sitting Tony Robbins disguised minister. I'd love to see the View girls have on someone like James MacDonald or John MacArthur. There would be no wishy washy answers...just scriptural truth. Of course they would never be invited to begin with!
Is there anyway to get a transcript from this episode of The View with Joel Osteen? Anything you might be able to do would be greatly appreciated.
Scripture says one thing. Pastor Osteen says another. He can't have it both ways. He says he can't pick and choose but, in fact, he already has.
He can't credibly say he believes in Scripture as justification for his presumptuous opinion that gays are "not God's best" but, in the same sitting, outright reject Jesus's attributed scriptural edicts against thrift, greed and materialism.
"Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses" (Luke 12:15).
"For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Luke 18:25).
put john hagee or jack van impe on, that would be a very interesting show. They would tell it like it is no matter who gets offended, that is real love telling the truth and not letting people be decieved.
Mr. Osteen being a spokesman of Jesus Christ failed most miserably by omitting to speak against mans sin nature. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, therefore the whole world is in need of Gods forgiveness, through repentance, and gays are not different, they need to repent, like anyone else, and turn away from their fornications in order to be forgiven by God through Christs blood, shed on the cross.
The fact is the wicked, proud of their loathsome conducts, and acting out like brazen prostitutes have taken over America, while nominal wimpy Christians are too preoccupied with their sensitivities, worshiping the trinity of self, which is composed of, ME, MYSELF, and I and in search for a Jesus that is more in touch with their inner sensibilities, and for a Jesus that is more harmonious with their own perversions.
They dont see Jesus as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords; they see Jesus as the Wimp of Wimps and the Dumb of Dumbs. These so-called wimpy Ch
"Un medico no cura a los sanos, sino a los enfermos, no he venido por los justos, sino que he venido por los pecadores..." Con la vara que mides, seras medido, no somos nadie para juzgar, solo El Señor tiene autoridad para hacerlo, asi que si alguien se acerca a Jesus, aunque sea homosexual, es un buen inicio para cambiar su vida...
Jesus said if you deny me (which includes His word) before men. I will deny
you before my father. It is only the truth that will set people free. This type of
straddling the fence will only empower these type people. They would respect
Osteen more if he stood up for God's word instead of trying to please PEOPLE.
He shoulod have said that according to the Bible homosexuality is an abomination to God and those that live that lifstyle will burn in hell forever unless they repent and turn from their wicked ways and make Jesus Christ their savior.
We did not say this GOD SAID THIS IN THE BIBLE.

I love Pastor Osteen's he and the other leaders at Lakewood Church are men and women commited to sharing God's goodness and the perfect love of our Father and his son Jesus. It is not our job to judge one another, that is up to God. It is our job to "above all love one another". Jesus did not say to love only Christians. As Christians we are supposed to lead by exampe Jesus' perfect love for us. I would rather stand before God and say "Father, I loved my neighbor and tried as best as I could to lead by example and teach your love and word". Instead of "Father, I told them it was wrong, they didn't listen to me or I didn't let them in my church because they weren't perfect". WE ALL fall short and all need to repent-all sins are equal in God's eyes. Thank you Lakewood Church for leading with love and faith!
Joel Osteen is a creepy, slimy weasel!
Behind the rictus smile, the insincere words, and those vacant eyes is something truly frightening. He speaks Christ with his lips but harbors darkness in his heart. Gays have every reason to be wary of this man.
