John Lennon Songwriter exhibit at GRAMMY Museum extended

The GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles just announced that the John Lennon Songwriter exhibit, scheduled to close on March 31, has now been extended for another six months through September 5, 2011. Yoko Ono Lennon made an appearance last October at the GRAMMY Museum to talk about the exhibit.

The exhibit originally opened on October 4, 2010 and features many items donated by Yoko Ono Lennon. Focusing on his songwriting, Yoko comments in an exclusive interview included in the exhibit that "in his songs, he was really real, he believed in truth." She explains that ideas for songs would come to him at unexpected times and he would be writing down lyrics while they were on airplanes. Yoko admits that Lennon's song "I'm Losing You" "always chokes me up... I had something to do with it."

The exhibit occupies part of the 4th floor of the museum and showcases many original handwritten lyrics for songs like "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" and "Working Class Hero". Items on display range from Lennon's Beatles days like his Sgt. Pepper jacket from 1967 to a harmonica and a collarless suit from 1963 that John can be seen wearing on the 45 picture sleeve of "I Saw Her Standing There."

The GRAMMY Museum also announced that a new exhibit on Roy Orbison will open on April 29 and run through November 2011 to celebrate Orbison's 75th birthday.
