While everyone has been focused on what BP puts in front of the camera, the third oil leak, which was admitted to by BP months ago, is being ignored in the oil spill media blackout.
For those who may have forgotten: On May 5, 2010, The Washington Post reported: “BP caps one of three oil leaks in gulf.”
The Huffington Post concurred: “NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The Coast Guard says BP has managed to cap one of three leaks at a Deepwater oil well..”
So the first leak was confirmed capped, we are all watching the second leak on live videos provided by BP. What has become of the third oil leak?
Back in May, oil industry expert Matt Simmons told MSNBC “All that oil didn’t come from that little dinky hole,” referring to the video flow from the BOP. He went on to explain his theory of the “elephant behind the mouse.”
Simmons claimed there was another leak about 6 miles away on the ocean floor - far worse than the one we have been shown.
Today there was a comment on this website that is bone-chilling. While the source is not confirmed, the comment makes perfect sense and it supports the remarks of Expert Matt Simmons, who made the same claim of a third, massive leak.

“Mark” - Spoke with a BP employee today and they are positive that BP America will declare bankruptcy and peel off the North American refineries/interests and try to sell them off within 2 months.
Apparently the bore hole is without the casing now and the flow of oil is unimpeded about 8 miles from the blow out preventer that we see on TV. ....
What this person was really scared of is the calls for nuking the bore hole. She said that this would not be advisable due to the size of the methane bubble in solution around the well head area, and the presence of the methyl hydrate reservoir in the sub surface strata. “
While this source is not 'official' it is not completely unfounded to imagine that the rather untrustworthy BP will walk away from the environmental and economic horror they have thrust on the United States - without a second thought.
On June 29, 2010, Allegiance Capitol Corporation V.P. Fred McCallister told CNN that BP is deliberately sinking oil with the toxic chemical disbursant Corexit, to hide the size of the oil spill.
McCallister said, “Everybody in Europe, where the standard practice is to raise the oil and collect it, is scratching their heads, and quite honestly laughing at what’s happening in the Gulf.” He added, “Everyone is looking at us and wondering why we’re allowing this to happen.”
An excellent question, especially since no one is talking about the third “elephant behind the mouse” oil leak.
The predictions made by the experts in the video below turned out to be true. The 'top kill' did fail to stop the leak. Mr. Simmons may also be right about the larger leak, which has gotten little attention since the video originally aired on May 26, 2010

What would lend credence to this suspicion that something is not right is the number of new accounts on the Oil Drum (TOD) that is expending enormous effort to shout down, deny, discredit and dissuade anyone from paying attention to Matt Simmons and "dougr"'s ideas.
When such a massive disinformation and obfuscation campaign is launched by parties unknown, it suggest that something is amiss.
The mere fact that "BP Spills Cofffee" has 8.3 million hits on Youtube whereas ideas to stop the leak are barely considered for viewing tells you where we are as a people. Yes, it is a humerous skit but there is nothing funny? about this leak. Sadly, until the implications of such a tragedy touch our own lives we're content to let "the other guy" try to do something. People should be scowering YouTube to promote ideas in the media that could shut down the leak. This device will stop the leak. It will also let BP do a controlled shut-down from a 0 - 100 % shutdown. - youtube.com/watch?v=yBRCuiDFwS4
We know, courtesy of Maryann Tobin, that BP is buying Google search terms to direct searches to their site.
Will BP confirm or deny that they are, directly or via their instrumentalities or agents (e.g. lawyers) hiring bloggers, twitters, etc. to spread the BP party line?
Why not ask them? See if they will reply.
Wow! I have been wondering why The Oil Drum has been down for at least a week. This story just get juicier and juicier.
I can't believe the public has fallen for the, "this is the leak" show that BP has been giving! Uh, if there was a huge blowout and the fires that came up and sank the drilling rig were so intense... How would that well still have a nice metal casing and be vertical? Huh? Think people!
The real blowout hole is like the mouth of a erupted volcano! You can't just throw a little box over it and suck out the oil. Just about the only option is to nuke it.
Unfortunately, there is a massive methane bubble floating above. You can't risk blowing that up.
It's a real pickle, that's why the government is not telling us the real situation. It's just too harsh, until they have a plan.
They are completely planting posts on the Boycott BP Group, Twitter, spreading lies on YouTube. Transparent and obvious. Ignore.
Excellent scope of your research, Maryann. quite an acheivement considering you are or seem to be on the other side of the thick MSM divide....
some advice from a engineer friend, interesting enough to pass along:
do not trust matthew simmons. google his sec filings, (cik 0001187277) cica 2000-2001, then cf his apparent poliics & qote motivation unquote. of course someone *can* always suddenly get a clue, but so far this is uncorroborated...
I have lost faith in Obama. I just hope there are better candidates out there besides Sara Palin.
Obama told the nation he was in charge since day 1.It was NOT Obama's fault the accident happened but like he said "the buck stops with him"Obama and other elected leaders should have consulted with experts and NEVER EVER ALLOWED the OIL to reach the shoreline. It will be DECADES before the Gulf returns to its pre-oilspill status.
One of Obama's campaign promises was transparency and he has failed with this media blackout.People need to see our shame.
Obama did do a good thing getting BP to set up a 20 billion "escrow" account I just hope it gets to the right people.
I hope I have better choices in 2012 but I doubt it.
Democrats and Republicans both should be ashamed of themselves. When we needed them to work together FOR ONCE they dragged their feet and "grandstanded"
your take on the oildrum is right, mostof the posters joined about the same time....right after the spill!!!!!!!!corp trolls
What I want to know is who is speaking truth? All men speak with forked tongue?
I reckon no matter how you look at it in the long run the U.S. citizens are fcked?
hehehe ok then so i can quit trying to find that illusive job? i can quit worrying about the bank calling for mortgage payment? just throw in the towel and ride out the end scenario? prepare myself to live in a cowboy sort of environment where my security is up to me?
Well come on people we can sit around drinking coffee, talking bull and sitting on the toilet shttng all day or we can prepare for our future?
What I want to hear are your ideas on survival?
What...??..... you can't nuke it cos the methan gas may cause a bigger explosion than the nuke...??... really..?
Got something to say?
