North America faces years of toxic oil rain from BP oil spill chemical dispersants

When you pour more than a million gallons of toxic chemical dispersants on top of an oil spill, it doesn’t just disappear. In this case, it moves to the atmosphere, where it will travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles from the site of the BP oil spill, in the form of toxic rain.

BP’s oil spill-fighting dispersant of choice is Corexit 9500. It has been banned in Europe for good reason. Corexit 9500 is one of the most environmentally enduring, toxic chemical dispersants ever created to battle an oil spill.  Add to that the millions of gallons of oil that have been burned, releasing even more toxins into the atmosphere, and you have a recipe for something much worse than acid rain.

The European Union Times reports "A dire report prepared for President Medvedev by Russia’s Ministry of Natural Resources is warning today that the British Petroleum (BP) oil and gas leak in the Gulf of Mexico is about to become the worst environmental catastrophe in all of human history threatening the entire eastern half of the North American continent with “total destruction”.

The reports adds, "Russian scientists are basing their apocalyptic destruction assessment due to BP’s use of millions of gallons of the chemical dispersal agent known as Corexit 9500 which is being pumped directly into the leak of this wellhead over a mile under the Gulf of Mexico waters and designed, this report says, to keep hidden from the American public the full, and tragic, extent of this leak that is now estimated to be over 2.9 million gallons a day."

Oil in the environment is toxic at 11 PPM (parts per million). Corexit 9500 is toxic at only 2.61 PPM. But Corexit 9500 has another precarious characteristic; it’s reaction to warm water.

As the water in the Gulf of Mexico heats up, Corexit 9500 goes through a molecular transition. It changes from a liquid to a gas, which is readily absorbed by clouds and released as toxic rain. The chemical-laden rain then falls on crops, reservoirs, animals and of course, people.

It is futile to believe that we can keep ‘Corexit rain’ from occurring since it has already been released and the molecular transformation has begun. We have set off an unprecedented chain of events in nature that we cannot control.

By releasing Pandora’s well from the depths and allowing it bleed into the sea the unimaginable becomes material.

Yet unlike a bad dream, we will not wake up from this nightmare and find it gone. The BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill will be touching millions of earth’s life forms for uncountable years.

Resources & Notes: Toxic Oil Spill Rains Warned Could Destroy North America

The health hazzards in oil toxic rain include Corexit 9500 and elements of the evaporated oil such as Benzene, which is a known carcinogen. The US governement lists many toxic materials as carcenogins in animals, but not humans, which raises the question of 'special rules' for the businesses that use them.

Butoxyethanol has an LD50 of 2.5g/kg in rats. Laboratory tests by the United States National Toxicology Program have have shown that sustained inhalation of high concentrations (100 - 500 ppm) of 2-butoxyethanol can cause adrenal tumors in animals. American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) reports that 2-butoxyethanol is carcinogenic in animals.

Butoxyethanol is listed as an ingredient in Corexit 9500, then said to be excluded from Corexit 9500. The asumption is that it is included in Corexit 9527. Both are highly toxic.

    Hi Maryann,

Thanks so much for having the courage to tackle this subject. Though reported in foreign media, our mainstream media in the United States has taken a hands off approach to this subject. This leads to a further dumbing down of the masses who need to know this information. When things start dying off around the country, and they already have in some places,
Americans are really going to be angry. Unfortunately it appears that the government and media are conspiring to withhold the truth from the public, again.

How come no-one ever mentions who exactly owns not just BP but all the oil companies? Is it the Rothschilds, Windsors, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Rockerfellers, Bushes and others? Shouldn't we go after the owners of these mega corporations as the real villains who are destroying the world, and make them pay for their crime of planetcide? And what should their penalty be, jail or capital punishment, Texas style.

The response seems to be setting the stage for the real disaster. I have followed HAARP since 1993, when I first got onto the Web. With a max of 10,000 sites at one time, it was a star attraction along with CERN and Persian Kitty. I am convinced that storms can be intensified and steered using that technology. Remember that there is a HAARP facility at Areceibo, Puerto Rico - in the middle of hurricane alley. Start spreading discussion of this now. It was spreading the story of an impending false flag, before the flight of a B-52 from Minot AFB with stolen nukes, that prevented the Neocon cabal controlling the Bush administration from attacking Iran. Perhaps we can limit any storms striking the Gulf to natural action. Too bad we don't have a government that would use the HAARP technology to protect us. The Russians have capped similar blowouts with nuclear charges and Nick Pozzi and USA have cleaned up similar spills with a fleet of super tankers. Those spills included skimming surface oil and undersea oil plumes and bottom lakes of oil. BP and Obama rejected the proven technology of using a fleet of super tankers for cleanup because they had a deal to use toxic chemical dispersants to hide the enemy oil. This is part of their new tech clean technology they are promoting. Why aren't the cleanup workers wearing hazmat suits to protect them from toxic chemicals? Why haven't you talked with Matt Simmons and Nick Pozzi founder of Wow Energy Solutions that have worked successfully for the oil industry? Why do you keep blaming the oil industry for BP's criminal activities? Why has Obama left the criminal BP in charge of the cleanup?

This article is so fantastic as to defy description. I am in awe of it. Corexit rain? Oh My.

Anyway there are no carcinogens in Corexit 7500. Look at the MSDS.

Corexit is not 'banned in Europe'. GB only, and because it interferes with limpet attachment to rocks. Not because of toxic rain.

The most volatile component in Corexit is kerosene. Hate to say it but I bet there is a lot more than 1 million gallons of the stuff in use all over the US on a daily basis. Not to mention other related hydrocarbon solvents and environmental stuff like uh oil spills. If kerosene was creating a toxic rain we would be well aware of it by now.

Oh yeah, it does go away. Biodegrades in a month or so. Again check the MSDS.

The "out of sight out of mind" corporate culture makes the idea of using chemical dispersants a reality which only makes the oil harder to contain because the chemicals break up the oil and push it under the surface of the water. Oil has a wonderful quality to it (for clean up) where it rises to the surface of the water, easy to catch. Sea life that interacts with the surface of the ocean like whales, dolphins, fish, birds, etc. have to push through ocean water that has a three foot thick layer of toxic oil on it's surface. It doesn't matter whether the oil is broken up into a million parts and coated with other toxic chemicals like COREXIT or if it is left in it's thick natural state, THEY ARE BOTH BAD CHOICES. We have been hearing, reading, talking and learning about how Microbes can eat the oil and then be eaten by marine life causing no harm to either party and actually cleaning up what has already been spilled.
That is only the surface. A mile below the Ocean the leak continues.

The Gulf of Mexico oil disaster was prophesied in 1903 by Gustav Meyrink, a European author, banker and occultist. In his 1903 short story - Petroleum, Petroleum - he actually says it is a prophecy. And he actually mentions the Gulf of Mexico as the location of the disaster. And he says the goal of the oil spill is to destroy the human habitat and human life itself. Petroleum, Petroleum - itself is about an evil chemist who intentionally causes an oil disaster by blowing up oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico. This destroys the lives of the people living along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. The oil spills into the Gulf for years as the rest of the world bickers about what to do, covering all oceans. This causes seawater to no longer evaporate and it stops raining. He even mentions that it will rain oil, as is happening right now in New Orleans. This should destroy the rest of humanity. Your writer did not do even one single interview with a scientist or water engineer or even Nalco and is completely reporting things without any factual basis. There is no factual basis to lie and claim "oil rain" results from ocean mixing with rain. Acid rain comes from AIR POLLUTION. The particles of corexit and oil CANNOT PHYSICALLY GET IN THE RAIN.
