Gulf oil spill: Suggestions of cover up with BP and Obama Administration on massive amount of oil being spilled
Reports about a cover up by oil giant BP and the Obama Administration as to how much oil the Deepwater Horizon accident is really spilling into the Gulf of Mexico are beginning to surface.
SkyTruth.com estimates the true spill rate is more than 1 million gallons a day, based on satellite and Coast Guard images.
At that rate, there is an estimated 21 million gallons of oil currently floating around the Gulf of Mexico.
Sources within the Obama administration, FEMA and the Corps of Engineers have been “resisting releasing any "damaging information" about the oil disaster, according to oilprice.com.
If unofficial estimates are accurate, the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill will be the worst human and environmental disaster in the history of the world.
Since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded and sank some 20 days ago, the ecosystem along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico have been spared catastrophic impact, because wind and weather have kept the monstrous mass of black goo out at sea. However, in the coming days and weeks, it will become obvious that all wind-inspired luck is about to run out.
Some engineers believe that the 5,000 foot deep resivour that the Deepwater Horizon tapped, could go on poisoning the oceans of the world for up to two years, if BP is unable to stop the volcano of oil erupting into Gulf waters.
“If the ocean oil geyser is not stopped within 90 days, there will be irreversible damage to the marine eco-systems of the Gulf of Mexico, north Atlantic Ocean, and beyond,” the report added.
Currents carrying the toxic water around the globe will effect birds, fishing, marine life, and the humans that depend on our fragile environment to support life as we know it.

BP will clean up effects of this incident, and there will be very little impact to the beach. There is lots of good news, the leak is slowing, winds are keeping it offshore, fish qnd birds are getting out of the oil slicks way, etc. Soon a second site will be redrilled and things will be back to normal, and we can progress with new offshore drilling opprotunities that await us.
I am so disappointed in the system! I have lost all faith in the judgement of industries that say they have it under control and clearly don't. WHY was there not a preventive action plan. Everyone is just sitting around in an office wondering what to do! All worried about the monetary loss rather then the loss of our ecosystem, the loss of integrity. When will America take a stand and be the leading example as we all take steps toward environmental change! I hope it is not too late.
And FRED, I am sorry but in my opinion you are cateering to denial and lieing to people that I guess are too ignorant to see that there is a HUGE impact and there are big risks and OH I am so relieved you can say: "Soon a second site will be redrilled and things will be back to normal, and we can progress with new offshore drilling opprotunities that await us". What I understand is that the second site will be a second chance for all the people involved to mess it up again! Have you cried over this disaster CAUSE I HAVE! TELL ME WHEN THE LEAK HAS STOPPED AND WHAT WIL BE DONE TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN! Don't spoon feed America sappy assurance when the damage has been done!
Very frightening! I would be amazed if it will take 90 days to completely destroy that coastal area - I think it will be toast in a month. That area may never recover in our lifetime. Makes you ill to think about it! Thank God it wasn't off the Pacific Northwest coast! Of course the US Senators both in Washington and Oregon would have said that oil drilling off our cost happens when hell freezes over!

In my opinion this oil spill is the worst thing human ignorance could have allowed to happen on planet Earth. Its not a matter of if, but when the oil will reach the shores of our coastlines. When that happens life as we know it will change forever. If by the grace of god we are able to bounce back we must never allow even the potential for this kind of MASS DESTRUCTION to be repeated. We must save and protect the Planet we are not the only beings that struggle through life on her

The estimates of how much oil is in the gulf now range from (5000 or 6000 or 1 million gallons/day) * # days the gush has been gushing. That's a lot of oil. What's going to happen to it? The Exxon-Valdez is a small-scale version to what's happening to the gulf now. Prince William Sound still hasn't recored from the Exxcon-Valdez: the herring industry, for example, collapsed a year or so after the spill because all the fry had been killed off by the oil. b) What has been learned during the last 20 years?
What is "NORMAL'? Things will never be "normal" again. People will just be willing to accept what they are told, and as long as it doesn't directly affect thier life style for whatever period that takes, you wll say things are ok. Things are not ok. The status quo is OBVIOUSLY not ok! What does it take to reach some people???
The fish are not all going to get out of the oils way and neither are the birds. Also, the phytoplankton and other algae are not going to be able to escape either. The ecosystem will be forever damage by this accident. To say things will be normal is beyond stupid. Hicks like you should just die.

I hear the Coast Guard is threatening to arrest reporters who video the spill from land. Actually, I saw a video on YT. Does the tax payer in the USA still pay for the CG, or does the corporate elite? What's going on? This is America? I don't think so.

I live in florida and this could be devestating to us we could lose a LOT of money due to BPs error and money cutting which will end up costing them ALOT even though i dont expect them to repair peoples lifes and jobs :(
Dear President Obama,
End the oil problem now by taking control and using whatever means (torpedo from a sub, explosives placed by ROV) to blast the well head to collapse it and end this catastrophe - NOW.
BP has been given too much freedom to try to salvage their precious money-maker well, but it is time to shut them down!
Our country is too important to be left in the hands of an oil company that is only interested in their own profits.

I don't believe Fred and anyone like him is stupid nor has any kind of mental issue; they are pure Evil!!! Rather they work for BP or not, no-one "good" in this world would even think about saying something that wicked!!!! It is because of guys like him that this kind of disaster occurs!!!! This is an ecological disaster that should have been jumped on from day one by EVERYONE. We have watched BP sit back like a bunch of bozos and see them ruin the earth. They have only been interested in the COLLECTION of the oil, never in STOPPING the oil.

HE LEAK CAN BE STOPPED BY LOWERING A SLIGHTLY LARGER PIPE TIPPED WIIH A COMPRESSION FITTING ONTO THE PIPE THAT IS LEAKING. ONCE THE PIPE IS LOWERED INTO PLACE THE COMPRESSION FITTING IS TO BE TIGHTEND BY A SUBMERCIBAL ROBOT. THUS STOPPING THE LEAK. THE PIPE WILL THEN CARRY THE OIL TO ABOVE GROUND STORAGE FACILITIES.
