Texas Gov. Rick Perry says reaction to Marine urination video is 'over-the-top'

Texas Governor Rick Perry has defended the actions of the United States Marines filmed urinated on the corpses of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.

While appearing on CNN’s State of the Union, Perry, a Republican candidate for president, explained that the Obama administration “over-reacted” to the evidence and that the president has a “disdain for the military.”

Perry did; however, acknowledge that the four soldiers in question made a mistake, but said he did not believe it was a criminal act.

"These kids made a mistake. There's not any doubt about it. They shouldn't have done it. It's bad, but to call it a criminal act, I think, is over the top," Perry told State of the Union host Candy Crowley.

While many have called the Marines’ conduct disturbing, Perry argued that the Obama administration’s reaction has been the most upsetting.

"What's really disturbing to me is the kind of over-the-top rhetoric from this administration and their disdain for the military," said Perry.

Though President Obama has not officially commented on the incident, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta have both denounced the widely circulated video.
