Obama strikes a fig leaf pose during National Anthem
The President of the United States ordered the military stationed in Haiti, for a large humanitarian effort, to stop flying the American flag at the bases of operation.
On January 12, 2010, Haiti was devastated with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. During the first week, 70,000 bodies were removed from the rubble. It was estimated that over 200,000 people died and more than 1.5 million were left homeless.
The U.S. responded, as per her norm, in a manner that is unrivaled in the world. Washington flew 10,000 troops to the country and repaired Haiti’s main airport to facilitate additional and sustained relief efforts. Millions of US dollars immediately poured into the region.
Many nations responded and with national pride and a simple sense of identification hoisted their flags at their respective bases.
Haiti Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive opined that Old Glory installed at the US base of operations at the airport, appeared as if the United States were taking over the airport. He relayed this concern to US Ambassador Kenneth H. Merten, and the ambassador agreed.
French and Latin American leaders claimed the US was occupying Haiti, here and here. Venezuelan President (dictator) Hugo Chavez claimed the United States detonated a weapon that caused the earthquake in Haiti.
Those petty nations that suppress Freedom in their own countries simply exploited a disaster and the press in order to spew their anti-American rhetoric.
Haiti’s expression of concern for America’s response was only regarding the display of American identification and pride, not aid or support.
The Obama administration reacted to the criticism:
The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea, "We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery."
The Obama administration ordered the US Flag to be removed from all military points of operation.
The president, as per his norm, back pocketed national pride. There was plenty of room in that pocket as the American checkbook remained out and open.
During the presidential campaign much was revealed about Barack Obama’s patriotism. Much of the news was massaged by the media and discounted by supporters that allowed their ideology to trump their own Patriotism and sound reasoning.
In October 2007, at an event in Iowa, Barack Obama was the only candidate that refused to salute the flag and instead struck a fig leaf pose during the National Anthem.
Also during the campaign it was revealed that after the 9/11 terror attacks, Barack Obama out of protest to the US response removed his American flag pin.
He stated, "I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest." Obama added, “I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism.”
One thing is loud and clear, to anyone half paying attention, Barack Obama has indeed shown his level of his Patriotism.
The other nations, including those that criticized the US, continue to fly their respective flags in Haiti.

Thank you for keeping us informed about what is going on. It seems the United States is always criticized while helping, no matter how much they do.
Obama's actions on this are obscene and distasteful to my patriotic pride. America has freed countries from madmen and dictators. I fear we are being captured ourselves. Tony! I didn't know you were here at Examiner! (or did I? So many people). Come check me out, sweetie. x-19341-Tampa-Faith--Politics-Examiner
I hadn't heard this on the news. Thanks for publishing the info.
He needs to be impeached
That is an Obamanation, although totally predictable.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MAN.?????
WAKE UP AND START SUPPORTING THE COUNTRY THAT YOU AE PRESIDENT OF OR LEAVE.
ALSO WHY ARE WE TRYING TO ALLOW THE ILLEGAL ALIENS TO BE PART OF OUR HEALTH CARE.
LET'S GET BACK TO WHAT MADEAMERICA A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!!!!
He needs to be ousted from Office, the man is a complete and total incompetent fool.
Where was all your outrage during the Gulf War under George H.W. Bush? Where were the calls for impeachment then?
From USA Today, 14-Mar-2010:
"The decision is not unprecedented, noted Joe Davis, spokesman for the Veterans of Foreign Wars, who says he is not bothered by the flag's absence.
During the Gulf War in 1991, U.S. forces took control of the main airport in Kuwait and briefly flew the American flag over their installation, Davis said, but higher-ups ordered it taken down to avoid an impression that U.S. forces were conquerors."
If you're going to be angry now, that's perfectly acceptable and understandable... but you better have been just as outraged when it happened during the Gulf War under that America-hater, George H.W. Bush. Oh, wait a minute. That doesn't sound right. Oh, of course not. He's a Republican. Couldn't possibly be... hmmmm....
Maybe the civilian facilities such as doctors without borders shouls fly the flag so the Haiian people will know where the most help is coming from.
I hope all of the obama idiots are as proud of this fool as they are happy that he is leading us into the toilet. I guess you morons didnt see it coming.
Entitled to his opinion, yes. Qualified to run this country, not on your life!
Obama is disrespectful and immoral when it comes to patriotism and borders (at best) on traitor and treason.
As Americans we are far too quiet! What is wrong with us as we sit idlely by, waiting and watching Obama's next disasterous move.
He needs to be impeached. Let's go!
To 'John Q American' Obama's anti-American positions are obvious. citing a military decision in Kuwait during an active war does not rise to the level of hiding our flag during a humanitarian effort in Haiti.
Bush did many idiotic things..pandering at times is one of them..pointing to his failed policies and/or bad behavior to justify Obama's is childish. Grow up and look at Obama for what he is...an anti-American politician.
I hope everyone realizes that the decision was made after the command element in the field recommended the flag be lowered to protect the response effort from unnessecary suffering or loss of life. The code of the flag allows such measures to be taken during peacetime operations. Look up the Pananma flag riots, which established the edict. It was not political decision. Carry on with your witch hunt, but choose your battles more carefully.
