It is known as Legal Plunder. See Frederic Bastiat's work on this, titled The Law at: http://www.lonang.com/exlibris/misc/1848-btl.htm .
The people of this country are rising up and crying out for this very kind of action to stop. And they are asking their local and state public servants to help in the matter. Not only because it is hurtful, but is flat out wrong. Just because someone sitting high on a bench, in a black robe, with a God complex signs an 'edict' to take someone's lawfully and legally (color of law) acquired property, doesn't mean we the people have to stand for it. And we the people includes your Sheriff, County Attorney, County Commissioners, Governor, State Attorney General ... everyone!
Theft is theft, no matter how well the disguise.
The Federal Government was given STRICT limitations on what its duties are. Stealing, at the stroke of a pen, is not one of them. And, Congress was provided, by the Constitution for the United States of America, Article I, Section 8, Clause 17,
exclusive Legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such district (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may ... become the seat of the government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings,
A search of the Montana Secretary of State's archives, Deeds of Cession, will most probably find that the property in question was not ceded to the jurisdiction of the Federal Government (IRS). Also, pursuant to 40 USC, Sections 3111 and 3112 (formerly 255), there needs to be a Notice of Acceptance on file with the state as well.

Taken from Sheriff Hoffman's website, http://www.ravallicounty.mt.gov/sheriff/default.htm we find:
Our philosophy at the RCSO is to treat our citizens and visitors the way we would want our own families treated.
Really?
Surely Sheriff Hoffman and County Attorney Corn would not want their property taken from them in any way, shape, or manner, especially property that was duly acquired.
What this writer perceives going on in the country, is the rising understanding of the Common Law principles, enshrined in The Declaration and Constitution. This is causing the debate, albeit passionate, between these principles and the Roman Civil Law principles which we are currently, and have been, living under for the last 140 years.
This is the true debate, and both 'philosophies' are talking past each other.
Bridging that gap is the challenge of our day.
The choice that We The People have before us is not Democrat vs. Republican vs. Libertarian, ..., Liberal vs. Conservative, etc.
The choice before us is Liberty vs. Tyranny.
As for this writer, the latter is not an option.
Where do you stand. Where do your public SERVANTS stand.
This judgment criteria should forever be the only criteria by which we make our choice for elected servants.
All that we in the county (and country) are asking, is for our servants to choose liberty as well.
