Does Herman Cain really believe Communist China doesn't have nuclear weapons?

Cain's foreign policy "gaffe"?

In a recent interview with PBS's Judy Woodruff, Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain was asked of the military threat posed by Communist China.

Cain responded with, "They've indicated that they're trying to develop nuclear capability..."

A Slip Of The Lip?

As The Shanghaiist's blatantly anti-American Joel Herrick wrote, "Herman Cain most likely mixed up China with North Korea -- I mean, it's just so easy to forget who America is supposed to hate these days!"

When interviewed by The Daily Caller's Ginni Thomas, Cain clarified his comments. (Video, left)

"Maybe I misspoke," Cain said. "What I meant was China does not have the size of the nuclear capability that we have. They do have a nuclear capability. I was talking about their total nuclear capability."

Either way, very few objective thinking people actually believe that Cain is unaware of Communist China's nuclear threat to the United States.

Don't Let Facts Get In The Way Of A Good Story...

Yet both CNN and CBS have ran stories that Cain is ignorant of Communist China's nuclear arsenal.

The internet's left wing of the blogosphere is all atwitter (no pun intended) with accusations of Cain not knowing the basics of who exactly is a member of the Nuclear Club.

When Fiction Becomes Fact...

Along the lines that many actually believe that Sarah Palin stated that she could see Russia from her house (that was Tina Fey who said that in a Palin spoof), unless the rest of the story is brought forward, many very well may continue to believe that Cain's honest slip is actually fact.

After all...

When then-candidate Barack Obama stated in 2008 that he campaigned in all 57 states, none of the mainstream media organs ran stories that he actually believed there were 57 states.

Even CNN and CBS.
