Why do you take pictures?
For me it is because I want to capture a moment in time. It is also because after so long behind the camera, I see the world differently as if it were a canvas and the camera my medium. While I am no artists per se, my camera allows me to “paint” the world as I see it or can potentially see it.
As a self-taught photographer who is still learning, I am always looking to improve upon the skills I have. The purpose of this column is not to teach you how to shoot a picture, but instead to challenge you to go forth and be inspired. That sometimes is the hardest thing, finding inspiration and having a challenge and a goal is one sure fire way to get yours going.
So I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone and went to the mall and took pictures of the world around me. Since Christmas is almost upon I got a lot of people shopping as well as the mall decorations.
Your challenge this week is to take a picture of something Holiday related. Whatever inspires you during the holidays try to capture the feeling or mood. You have one week to post your link to your picture in the comments below. Show us what inspires you.
My weekly submission is a huge tree ornament at the mall. For me Christmas is a time for reflection of all that I am grateful for and this picture shows that in more ways than one.
