One of the biggest questions about going to a place you've never been to is “what is the place like?” Sure, talking to others or reading about the destination online can help, but they can only go far in preparing you for what to expect. Now, thanks to the website Clevelandbarscene, potential patrons can check out top local bars from the home computer via live video feeds.
So much for the uncertainty.
With the live videos, not only can potential patrons see what the inside of the establishment looks like, but what actually goes on in the bar in live streaming video. Obviously, different people are looking for different atmospheres when they decide to hit the town for the night. Thanks to the videos, people can see what the all important atmosphere is like before leaving the house, which can prevent time being wasted at establishments that just don't seem like your individual idea of fun.
Sounds good, doesn't it?
Well, there are always dissenting voices when it comes to things having to do with cameras.
Some people are concerned at the very notion of a webcam being mounted in a bar so that anyone with a computer can watch from home. However, people from Clevelandbarscene say that the technology used in providing the video feeds has safeguards to ensure patrons' “privacy,” if there is even such a thing in a bar, which is, legally, a public place.
Undoubtedly, the webcam feeds are just the latest way in which businesses can promote themselves. Currently, there are feeds for a relatively small number of establishments, but, if the feeds help bring in the business, expect to see more such video streams pop up in the future.
