(c) Barbi Twins "Shane and Sia Barbi with a horse"
The Wild Horses are fighting for their lives to stay free and it is people like the Shane and Sia Barbi aka the Barbi Twins, Willie Nelson and his daughter Amy Nelson, Katia with Humanion Films, Craig Downer a Wildlife Ecologist, The American Wild Horse Preservation and many others. People are trying to stand up for the horses and provide a voice for them. There efforts seem to fall on deaf ears or go to court to try to stop the round ups but are turned down. It seems like these horses are fighting for their lives and it is a never ending battle for them.
The Barbi Twins are promoting about the horses and trying to get everyone to listen and to get the public eye involved. They were horse trainers for most of their lives and now believe that the wild horses should remain free to roam and be able to live out their lives as they wish. Not how we want them to live it. The Barbi Twins have much love for these horses as they do for all animals. A large part in their lives is being an animal activist for the animals that cannot speak for themselves. The Barbi Twins have even taken in one of the wild horses that had been given up for adoption and the previous owners could not train such a wild horse. The Barbi Twins took the horse and provided him with a loving home in which he can remain free and not ridden. They are allowing him to live as free as he can being confined to a fence.

No(c) BLM "Saylor Creek Herd in motion running from the helicopter"
Willie Nelson and Amy, his daughter, are always promoting and protesting about the horses. They were there to try to prevent horses from going to slaughter and now they are there to try and stop the BLM from taking away America’s Horses. Willie has written letters to try and get his voice heard about the BLM and the wild horses. Willie Nelson is working with the Animal Welfare Institute and is asking people to join in on the quest to save the wild horses.
Katia Louise with Wild for Life Foundation (WFLF), Compassionate Animal TV reports on the Calico 2010 round up. Though WFLF Humanion Films, she is is in production on a feature documentary film "Saving America's Horses A Nation Betrayed". Here is where she is doing her part for trying to save these beautiful creatures. She goes to the round-ups and takes pictures and documents what is actually going on at the round ups. The public is only allowed at certain places at certain times and she is there. Trying to make sure these horses are well maintained and they are not. Some would say it is animal cruelty.

(c) Craig Downer "Recent photo from the Calico round ups"
Craig Downer is a wildlife ecologist and board member to the Cloud Foundation and goes to the round ups as well documenting what he sees and takes pictures. He has been to court numerous times battling for these horses and trying to stop their round ups. His speech Forever Wild and Free he gave in 2008 received a standing ovation at the Wild Horse Forum. He studies these horses and how we are impacting them by depleting them from their home land. The Cloud Foundation was created by Ginger Kathrens. She has documented a white Palomino horse, Cloud, in Pryor Mountains in Montana since birth. She is fighting to save the wild horses and let horses like Cloud live in their natural surroundings.
The American Wild Horse Preservation is doing their part by showing the public what is going on. They show how these wild horses are and them being on their own is a the best thing for them. The AWHP is there on the front lines trying to get people to understand this problem and what actions they can take to save the horses. There are many supporters of the AWHP and they are people like Willie Neslon, Ellen Degeneres, Clint Eastwood to people like Nick Zito (two-time Kentucky Derby Winner) and even Chris Shivers (two-time World Champion Bull Rider). Anyone can help and anyone's voice can be heard.
Just some food for thought: The BLM stated that the Calico round ups were necessary due to the over population. They stated their numbers were about 3,040 wild horses. They then stated they needed to reduce this number to about 600-900 horses to make sure they could survive. They collected and removed 1,922 horses and had 39 casualties as well. This is not including the 25 or so mares that aborted their late term foals. They ended their round ups recently stating that when they did an aerial observation they observed about 600 horses remaining. They then stopped the round ups. Now taking 1,922 horses from the original number of 3,040 they first counted leaves 1,118 horses but they are stating they are now only counting about 600. That is a 518 horse difference. Their numbers are off. Now they are heading towards Eagle Complex where they plan to reduce the 695 horses to only 100 horses. They are stating this is the right number for this land even though this same land is being grazed by 2,700 privately owned cattle. Again the BLM, organization of cattle ranchers, is allowing the cattle to more land then the wild horses.

Everyone needs to boycott the cattle industry since they are the one's with the power telling BLM to get rid of the horses. The ranchers have to much power and if we boycott them they won't be so high and mighty when no one buys their beef. Follow the money and cut them off.
Thank you Louise for your comment. I agree but most people won't boycott it. The other problem we have is when it goes to court, it is being thrown out for minor technicalities. The judges are not allowing this to be heard but rather sweep it under the rug and just let it keep happening. There are so many people in power involved in this and it is going to take Supreme Courts or higher to resolve this.

This is vast revenue to pay for land, training, and wages for Committees to oversee America’s horse industry, including reclaiming the Wilderness Preserves for Our Mustangs.
Rebuild America with pride.
We built this Nation with horses.
We can do it again.
Sanctuaries should not only foster horses but should be learning facilities to teach responsible horse ownership. Sanctuaries become county revenue builders as fees are paid for horse adoption, trail rides, horseback riding lessons, and host competitions. Ideally, Sanctuaries should adjoin Federal land already utilized by equestrians or with promise to do so, such as land owned by The Army Corps of Engineers, State Parks and National Forests.
Thank you Stephanie for your great comment. It sounds great if the Gov would actually do it. Anything to help save the land and horses. People will not fully understand until the horses are all gone and we cannot engineer them back. Then and only then I feel people will come to terms to just how important these horses really are. It's horrible that we haveto go to a zoo to see so many animals because they are extinct, and I'm afraid the Wild Horses will be just that if we don't step up and do something about it.
