Arizona's new immigration law bring protests

There is no question that Arizona has a border problem. The Federal government has put up pieces of a giant fence. It is in sections and anyone can just go around it. The boarder is not well patrolled and people crossing the Rio Grand River may be just illegal immigrants or they may be heavily armed drug smugglers.

Gun fire can be heard from across the river. That is because of a narco-war on the Mexican side that takes thousands of lives each year. So the boarder crossings are a real problem.

However, the new law that Arizona just passed is nothing more than an excuse for racial profiling and it has sparked massive protests both in and out of that state. One sign on the TV, last night, said “No Juan Crow Laws.” It was a direct link to the civil rights protests of the 1960s “Jim Crow” laws. It was also a reminder of how racist this country can get when faced with real problems. The problems may be real, but Arizona’s new law is the WRONG solution.

The law has already brought out hundreds of protesters. The protest are beginning to resemble the civil rights actions of the 1960s. Such protests finally brought us equal treatment under the law for those of other races.

According to CNN;

“Hundreds of people gathered outside Arizona's Capitol building on Sunday in a largely peaceful protest against the state's tough new immigration law.

Chanting "Yes we can," waving American flags and holding signs reading "We have rights" and "We are human," demonstrators kept up a festive spirit as they denounced the bill signed Friday by Gov. Jan Brewer.”

The new law puts responsibility on common police to determine if a person is in the U.S. legally. Immigrants are required to carry their alien registration documents at all times. Police are given full discretion to interrogate anyone they suspect of being an illegal alien.

According to The World Can’t Wait, 11 other states are considering a similar law to that of Arizona. The protesters are getting louder and restless. Some arrests have been made as some protesters take part in civil disobedience.

    I don't see why America is so hateful against Mexico. That country is corrupt and poor and those people come to the US in hopes of living a peaceful and rewarding life, and all Americans can do is be hypocritical and act like Nazi's towards them. It's ugly and reminds me of Hitler against Jews. Your ancestors came and invaded this country or you were forced here, either way we all are immigrants, illegal or not!

    The fact you use The World Can't Wait as a source is telling. TWCW is a front group for the Revolutionary Communist Party.

    You aren't a Peace and Freedom
    guy; you are a Communist.

    Boot those illegals!
    I have friends from different countries and they SLAVE to stay here in america! The illegals make it hard for immigrants from China and japan, and other countries. If you are illegal, go through the proper channels.
    If i wanted to live in Mexico illegally, they would either put me in jail or just shoot me.
    Go home illegals!

    Ethan needs to do some research.
    There are laws for certain reasons, and if you support breaking one law you support breaking all of them.

    The information is accurate no matter who is in that group. You seem to use the same tactic that is best left to the past McCarthyist. Maybe they forgot to tell you the cold war is over.

    Hey Ethan,
    I guess you don't pay taxes. I do and I'm quite fed up with American tax dollars going toward programs that feed, house, and educate these illegal scum. I don't hate Mexico. Nor do I hate Mexicans. The fact that these people are looking for a better quality of life does not justify breaking the law to be here. GET LEGAL OR GET OUT!

    a-real-american;
    Everyone in this country who works pays taxes, including Ethan and most illegals. Why does you paying taxes make you so special from everyone else?
