Just hours prior the brutal beating of Josie Lou Ratley, vicious text messages were flying. According to the Sun-Sentinel, "Snap her neck then stomp her skull. Fastest way I could think of," read one of the texts, which were released Wednesday in discovery in the court case against 15 year-old Wayne Treacy.
Another text message sent from Treacy's phone prior to the beating reads: "This bxtch ran her mouth bout my bro who she knew is dead. Nao I want her head."
Yes, Wayne Treacy's brother died last fall, allegedly committed suicide. Does this condone this type of violent behavior? The answer is clear, as Wayne Treacy is being tried as an adult in Broward County. He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempted first-degree murder. Investigators have said the text messages outline Wayne Treacy's motive for attacking Josie Ratley.
An emergency room doctor at Broward General Medical Center told detectives that every bone in Josie Ratley's face had been broken in the attack, according to investigative reports, also released Wednesday and reported by the Sun-Sentinel.

There you go! Treacy is guilty that it baffles me that anyone could dare point a finger at Josie and say that it was her fault. Yet I have seen hundreds of comments on these message boards in which people have done exactly that while acting superior to her. Treacy is a complete creep, a dangerous sociopath with homicidal tendencies. Who cares if he had a hard life and dealt with some troubles. That happens to everyone, everyone has to deal with bad events and insults. Treacy actually texted people with his exact intentions and then carried them out.
I tried to put myself in his shoes but he lost me once he started writing out his will, texting his horrendous intentions, put on his steel toes, started hunting for his victim, and then carried it out. These are the acts of a person that can be allowed in free society, he is going to jail, and will be caged, just like the animal he is.
Putting myself in Josie shoes is easy. I was once mugged by 15 guys, one had a lead pipe, the other a chain. When they found that I didn't have any money on me they started to beat me up. Luckily I tricked them by playing possum, and when they stood me up to hit me again, I bolted and out ran them all thanks to life and death fear. Another time I was pushed into a pool by a school mate while walking home. I couldn't swim, I was drowning in the deep end. When my head would go above water I would see and hear him laughing breifly. I managed to grab the side of the pool. Once I crawled out, I told him that I coulnd't swim.
This is what Josie felt. One second she is waiting for a bus, the next a maniac is trying to kill her in the most inhuman way possible...Why?
She said or texted something he didn't like.
I hope he gets life, I can't stomach the idea of a monster like Treacy ever walking the streets ever again.
he had time to cool off..two hours! he was hell bent on doing serious damage
Violence and more violence and we allow our kids to sit and play violent games, watch violent movies listen to violent music that feeds their minds. He should be convicted and she should be charged with inciting behavior or harassment for the texts messages she was firing off as well. Even though she was seriously hurt she is still wrong for provoking him when she knew he was angry with some pretty hurtful messages she sent to him. I am not condoning either actions from either party, but i do believe that should be taken into consideration during his trail. Todays society should understand that there are bullies in many forms including"" pink girlie Im innocent wolves in sheeps clothing ** I've seen far to many teenage girls bully people an walk away acting as if this behavior is acceptable and ok. And for the most part people do nothing. Female bullies do as much damage as a guy that hit. Emotional abuse is no different then physical when it comes to the mentality of the attacker
Can we PLEASE see the text/s that SHE send to HIM? What on earth could have provoked such a reaction in a child who is obviously suffering mentally from the traumatic discovery of his dead brother?? If his texts messages have been released, shouldn't we she just what she said to him?
This article is biased. The fact that the writer fails to quote the text messages sent by the girl suggests that the writer wants her to be seen as an innocent victim. No guts for the whole truth at the Baltimore Examainer, I see. The fact is that the girl sent some excrutiatingly evil and provocative text messages to the boy. She is NOT an innocent victim in this, as the Examiner will have people believe. Based on the horror of the text message she sent him, I can assure you that they will never get a conviction for attempted first degree murder. No way. There will be a great deal of mitigation in this case.
TO PAUL may 14, have you read the text messages she sent to him about his brother who committed suicide?
Nothing anyone could send in a text message would justify that!!! NOTHING! This young man just needs to be put to death or locked up forever. There can be no redeaming qualities in his soul. He is just plain and simple evil. I know if it was my daughter I would hope they let him go...then I could assure true justice.
I cannot not believe what I am reading...she asked to be beaten nearly to death? Dan...hate to be your girlfriend.
Remember the little rhyme most of us learned in school. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me? This was HER phone, if he didn't like what he was reading... don't text her. What you can't read can't hurt you. He is the model for what is wrong with society today. And his little defenders aren't model citizens either. GROW UP.
