Whether you call them Silly Bandz, ZanyBandz or CrazyBandz, there is one thing for certain, kids are going crazy for these colorful and some glowing rubber bands!
Often we hear of the negative ways in which kids or teens can twist a fun item into something less than desirable. However with this new rubber band craze, it seems to be good, clean fun! Kids are trading them, collecting them and creating with them.
Even the New York Times had an article about these Silly Bandz, calling them The Bracelets that Spring Off the Shelves. It is true, stores have a hard time keeping them in stock and kids are craving them. Another great twist to these bandz is the low cost! For only a few dollars, these rubber bands won't bust the bank.
Although some teachers have banned them from their classrooms for being a distraction, overall this new craze is growing by the day. Most schools, at this point, have allowed them, however some schools are banning the trading of them on campus. Some schools are using them as fundraisers and teachers dole them out as rewards.
In South Florida there is one principal that has banned them as of May 5th. According to the Sun-Sentinel Omni Middle School in Boca Raton, these bandz will be confiscated.
Principal PJ D'Aoust e-mailed parents saying "These novelty items have created a disturbance on campus and have also become a safety concern in a number of ways."
Some kids are putting them around their necks, some are snapping other students with them and others are "using them as projectiles and stingers," his e-mail said.

i am 11 years old. i have 142 silly bandz and silly band rings,they recently banned them in my schoool, due to many fights.
im sick of seeing them. grown adults wear them here.
