Jon and Kate plus 8 - What are the kids learning
from their parents?
Well I did it, I gave in and watched another episode of Jon and Kate plus 8 and boy do I wish I hadn’t! My husband’s elderly Aunt was visiting and she “just loves all those babies” so we watched it.
It was another episode of Kate screaming at, and then belittling, her husband Jon! I don’t know the official episode name but I’d go with “Jon forgot something and so Kate did her best to make him look and feel like an idiot in front of the TV crew and the dwindling number of viewers, part 88” or something close to that.
This newest tantrum was over the fact that Jon, a grown man, went to the store to buy a shower faucet nozzle. Sounds easy enough but apparently, he forgot to use the coupon. Happens all the time at my house and honestly other than the fact it means another trip to the store (if the coupons were large enough), there isn’t another word about it said.
Not so at the Jon and Kate plus 8 house. You forget to use a coupon there and Kate will lay into you! For example, “This is annoying; beyond annoying!” is screamed after giving the TV audience the teaser that she is “going to shoot him.” Kate then quizzes Jon about the receipt including my favorite, “What is the rule about receipts?” Remember she is talking to her husband! Seriously, in the most condescending tone she asks, no demands, “What is the rule about receipts?” The RULE? Throughout his “you’re an idiot and I can’t believe I married you” ceremony of the day, Jon acts as if this an acceptable way to be treated and then Kate informs him, “You're going back to the store this afternoon!"
I am not sure which bothers me the most: a loud, demeaning bully: or a passive, no backbone wimp. I guess I have to go with the bully or the fact they are allowing the taping at all. I know that when watching the Jon and Kate plus 8 show, I am completely disgusted by Kate over and over again! I cannot stand to watch and/or listen to Kate when she is screaming, whining or complaining but it becomes so much worse when she is so horrific to her husband and/or children. She sees nothing wrong with insulting any of them, of calling them names and treating them like they aren’t worthy of being in her presence.
The good news is I can change the channel. The bad news is Jon and the kids live it day after day. The worse news is Jon seems to think it is acceptable behavior and the kids will learn by example. On this latest episode, Kate tells Jon, "You're not buying anything anymore!” I wish he would have looked her in the eyes and said, “Sounds good to me Sweetheart” and simply walked away!

I swear this show should be canceled!It has to be the worse example of how to treat one another!
J & K are POOR ROLE MODELS AS PARENTS. How many "normal" families have moms that sleep until 9 while dad gets the kids up and off to school? How many dads pimp out their children to support the family because they are too lazy to?

If you were a family of 10, I don’t believe you’d be going around making $50 purchases and not recording the receipt. Receipts are VERY important when you are on a budget. If you want to act irresponsible, than you're going to get treated like a child....plain and simple!
Yes Leah you are right receipts are important to people on a budget but jon and kate are anything but! Get real, they are paid a huge salary plus they do speaches - for money - write a book for money and still BEG for money. They are pathetic parents making money off their kids and obviously staying together becaus eof a contract.

Kate really, really, really needs to go far away from Jon and the kids. She is of no good to any of them!
What made this shower head scene (which rivaled the shower head scene in Psycho on some level) is that wasn't it just a few months ago that TLC was playing all of the teaser commercials about the "remarriage" (what Jon and Kate mistakenly called vow renewal)? And didn't all of these commericals lead up to a big two episode about the great big, "romantic" grand re-wedding with expensive, new white dress and all at the Grand Wailea. It was so "awesomely" as Jon would say over the top and yet the honeymoon is apparently soooooo over in spite of a million dollar new house and new ski condo.
For people who LOVE Jon and Kate! be sure and watch how happy Mady was on all of the octuplet interviews she got dragged to last week.

Just for the record and to save the Gosselin lovers some time: 1) I'm not jealous 2) I know I can switch the channel 3)Yes, I don't walk in Kate's shoes but wouldn't exploit children even if I did 4)I believe children can be taught to be well behaved without belittling them, demeaning them, humiliating them, spanking them (kate says they do) and being sarcastic in responding to them

Love it - when is the TV audience going to say enough and get this sick woman off the air? I'll start - ENOUGH this episode should make them all turn off for good
Hey...if you don't like the show...stop watching it. Watch something else!!! Stop being so negative towards Kate & Jon. Peaple are so fast to judge other people/it's not your place to judge other people.
I would never talk to my spouse that way EVER and especially over something as stupid as using a coupon! But then I would never stay with a guy that let anyone treat him the way Kate treats Jon!!
Hey Kathleen - News alert - Jon and Kate opened up their lives for everyone to see and yes, to judge by signing a contract that has them selling their kids to the highest bidder.

What I want to know is when the MAINSTREAM MEDIA will stop eating the false public image that Jon & Kate's PR machine spoons into their mouths. When will knucklehead reporters and columnists start VERIFYING whether Jon & Kate are actually on a tight budget?
I just read a Washington Post article that asks Kate for advice about buying organic food on a budget. It really ticked me off.
If they did just a little digging, i.e. their jobs, they would learn that the Gosselins have a million dollar home and the ski lodge, plus a personal chef, housekeeper, personal assistant, nannies (because they're too busy traveling on speaking engagements to actually spend time raising the kids), landscaper, people who wash and fold their laundry.
All this is at the expense of their children's privacy. And if you don't think this hurts the kids, google Dionne Quintuplets, and you'll see.
Reality TV is often quite the opposite of what its trying to portray.
That last line didn't make sense. What I meant was: The reality behind Reality TV is often the opposite of what it shows you.
I'm so heartened to read that the public is catching on to the Great Gosselin Grift. Now if only members of the media would do their jobs and expose them.
If you really care about those adorable children, you'll boycott the show and its corporate sponsors. It certainly won't hurt them financially. At this point, those 10 kids have their college funds and then some.
And please don't write that we're being judgmental-that's such a cop out, and I'm not being a Kate basher here. Life is obviously no longer remotely difficult for these parents thanks to their cash cow: their children. Those kids need your help - their parents and TLC will never stop the show as long as it keeps making bank. They need to be freed from the fishbowl that they're living in and just have normal, private lives. The only way is for the show to start losing money and get canceled.
I always love when people say if we don't love the show we are jealous! Of what? I womand who obviously has no love or respect for her mate? A woman who likes her girls over her boys? A woman who bashes and insults all her family mambers? A woman that is such a poor Mom, she would let her kids be filmed nude? A woman that sells her kids to the highest bidder? I can't imagine ANYONE would be the least jealous of Kate - upset, sicken, disappointed, embarrsed, angry by her yes but jealous never!
This woman and Mady need help now and TLC just let's them get worse and worse as we all watch!

The show is nothing more than a sales pitch for products they get money for pumping - and you can't for one minute think they haven't sold out their kids! And even blah blah can't justify letting the kids be filmed naked - or is that okay?

Question? What "business trip" did Kate have to fly to in LA just days before a huge move? (so that Jon would have to do all the packing and taking apart the furniture.) Maybe the jet-lag made her grouchy so that she gave Jon the Coupon Tongue-Lashing.
I love watching the kids. I wish TLC would focus more on their cuteness instead of Jon & Kate's antics.
I trulyfeel sorry for this family! This is not how marriage is supposed to be! Kate is taking the role of head of house and john is letting her! Marriage is not 50/50 it's 100/100. Respect is definately not in their marriage! Or as far as we can see. How sad, they both are missing out on what could be tgemjst wonderful thing-marriage!
well i love the show and it really disturbs me that people can have so much hate/anger toward these people that they feel the need to lash out in the form of comments/articles/blogs. the kids are adorable.
I think that we had to endure the coupon scene because Kate has a contract with P & G. She does advertising with them at their stores demonstrating how P & G coupons can save you money.
Let us not forget that Kate cleaned a fridge for four hours (and it looks like in another scene that it had been replaced) instead of helping her boys with bathroom issues.
I think I enjoyed the show more when it first aired and seems like it less and less. I don't feel that Kate should speak to Jon the way she does.
It would be great to have Kate sit and watch snipes of her yelling at her family and take a step back and think, "Is this what I want America to see?"

I watched the last episode where Jon takes the kids in the woods and Kate again was in New York making money off of them (whole other story) but she actually trys to tell his story and at one point he looks at her and says you tell it since you were there. Then in the next frame is is actually yawning, I guess from boredom since the story didn't include her. What's with the leg propped up and not even caring what she looks like on camera any more. I guess she's getting very comfortable with all the riches she has made.
I just think its sad to portray such a "perfect upbringing" when the reality is the trend with Kate is somehow broken relationships with Jons mother, her parents, her sister in law Jodi, her best friend Beth.....kind of sad really. Once those kids grow and and marry Kate wont have all the control and then what? Broken relationships with sons and daughters too ?
i agree last night's episode was horrible, but at least kate knows how to spell "tries"! i love the show because of the kids. kate's willingness to make all of the organic, fresh food she does make is a bigger deal than anyone makes it out to be! i think she honestly loves them but doesn't always show it.
this is a great show! kate does what she can, and even tho, i admit, she loses her temper sometimes, your patience would run pretty low too in that household. Its undersandable. If she didnt love Jon, she would leave him, and if he didnt love her, he would leave her too. He does stand up to her sometimes, so leave them alone and let them live the way they want too.
I think we all need to take a step back and wonder what a T.V. crew would reveal in our own homes. I am sure none of us are perfect, and I know both my husband and I have talked to each other in inappropriate ways, even though we are not meaning to. We love each other dearly and wouldn't do it on purpose, but remember, we are all human. I am sure Kate and Jon are both aware of their weaknesses. Hopefully at the end of the day they both know how much they are loved by the other one. Someone told me once to be careful to point a finger at someone, because there are 3 more pointing back at you. I still think it is really neat how they have allowed us to come into their home and observe how they deal with each other and 8 kids. I can't even imagine. I think they do the best job possible. I have two kids and find my life difficult sometimes. What they do financially is their own business. We all need to be in control of our own finances. Whatever they have done to get where they are today, they will have to deal with that.
They need to get the show off the air!!

Because I've done it before, and will most likely do it again. WHy do we cut people down instead of building them up? We would like the results much better!!

I may have lost my temper over the years but I know I have NEVER belittled my husband or my sons let alone in front of my other kids!
And how many times does Kate look at the camera CHOOSING to be unkind and downright verbally abusive and she lets her kids watch those shows (it's their favortite she has said over and over)and they hear her and think it is aceptable. It is sickning and should not be on the air!

I love this show and I really think some people should just lay off! Yes, i know Kate can lose her temper but come on! Were humans! If you were on a reality show you would scream like heck too!

A reality show on TV is really a script. I'm sure the producers help Kate to find things to get at Jon about. That's what helps sell the show. It's a business as Jon has said.

I agree with girly girl. The show needs to come off the air and people need to stop watching it. They are making money off of the people who watch their show and buy their books. The are worth $10 million. That is ridiculous.
