Dads Need Involvement as Their Children Return to School

Distributed by Press Release

CHICAGO (Map) - CHICAGO, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- As school quickly approaches us, there are many divorced and separated dads who would like to take their kids to the first day of school. This often causes conflict with their mother, leaving the children out in the cold. Anger and emotion should never cloud the parental decision making process. Author and nationally renowned Fathers' Rights attorney Jeffery M. Leving would like to take the time to give advice to both parents before it gets to the boiling point. Dr. Leving says that there are certain steps that one must take in order to make this process a smooth transition for the sake of the kids.

When the mother and father begin to argue and fight about parental involvement, the children are the ones who suffer. The issue then becomes the argument, and the needs of the children are dismissed and forgotten.

Parental conflict creates father absence which has a devastating effect on children. Fatherless children are twice as likely to dropout of school, they consistently score lower than average in reading and math, and they are eleven times more likely to exhibit violent behavior. Supporting positive father involvement supports children and is a key to their academic success.

Dr. Leving is the founder of http://www.dadsrights.com and the Chairman of the Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood.

Dr. Leving is available to speak to you about why kids come first and how to prevent parental conflict before it is too late. Children of divorced parents still need both parents.
