Get the lead out. Use a Green Anchor on your raft or drift boat

It's time to get the lead out, say’s Mike Storms of Hamilton, Montana. Many agree. Lead and lead compounds can be highly toxic when ingested or inhaled. Many anchors are made of lead which then wear and chips into the water. Storms wants people to stop polluting rivers, lakes and waterways with raw lead and his contribution is the making of “green anchors.”

Green Anchors are made with 100% recycled lead. They are then fully encased in 3/16" steel. A Green Anchor could be the last anchor one will ever buy...unless it is lost. Speaking of losing an anchor, Storms uses 3/8" eyes that are welded closed and welded to top plate both inside and outside. Un-welded eyes have been known to bend open and then there goes the anchor. His design has no sharp edges that could scratch or puncture a boat. The anchors come in standard weights of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 pounds (+/- 5%) but custom weights and styles are available.

Green-Anchors are raw steel on the outside. They have no paint, powder-coat or bed-liner to chip and wear off. The anchors will not pollute rivers, streams or lakes. Iron is a natural, non-toxic element and doesn’t abrade like lead. Green-Anchors will develop light surface rust, becoming almost invisible on a rocky bottom.

Green Anchors are designed for raft and drift boat use. Green Anchors are not designed for big water. Like any anchor, however, they do require enough line scope to work properly.

Storms’ Guarantee: If you have any problems due to normal wear within 5 years of purchase, return your anchor with proof of purchase and he will repair or replace it. He offers a 15% discount to licensed guides and outfitters.

Do you have a lead anchor you want to recycle? Storms needs lead to make his anchors and this is a great way to reuse it safely. Bring in your old lead anchor and he will credit it toward a new green anchor.
