Bank and Blues is Daytona's latest smoke-free club

Up on Daytona's Main Street, a long-time live music mainstay has joined the trend to a smoke-free indoor environment. Like Jack's Stadium Bar on South Ridgewood and Stingray's on Beach Street, the Bank and Blues Club is now a non-smoking venue.

What this means is that now lovers of live blues music, the kind once heard only in smokey blues bars, is now available in a smokeless venue with all of the amenities of a first-class nightclub.

The Bank, as it is known, is part of the Doan Management group, which also includes Dirty Harry's next door, Full Moon Saloon across the street, and Hog Heaven BBQ, just down the street on Atlantic Avenue. On Wednesday nights, The Bank is home to the Daytona Blues Society's True Blues Jam, which kicks off at 8:30 with a featured act, followed by an open jam session from 10 to whenever.

The Bank & Blues Club is located in the 700 block of Main Street – the heart of Daytona Beach and home of the famous “Bike Week” and its fall equivalent “Biketoberfest”. It is also only a short walk from the Ocean Center and Peabody Auditorium. The Bank was once a real-deal financial institution, built in the early 20’s, and converted to a hard-rockin’ kick-ass nightclub, featuring live blues and rock bands weekly. (Just don't walk into the bank's vault on the way to the rest room!)

The Bank's calendar is always adding new bands, both local and national, to do its part in maintaining Daytona's reputation as the Blues Capital of Florida. In addition to its new smokeless atmosphere, the Bank and Blues Club offers a full bar with popular ice cold beers, including newer lower-alcohol brews like Select 55.

  • Upcoming Wednesday bookings include the Bird Dog Bobby Band on November 17th, a power trio with Bobby on the guitar, Chief Whitehead on bass and Reno Mussatto on drums.
  • On November 24th, the one-and-only bluesman J. W. Gillmore takes the stage with a night of his own Gut-Bucket-from-the-Delta-to-your-face style of blues, featuring J.W.'s unique harmonica solos.
  • And during the jam sessions that follow the featured act, you never know who might show up.
