"The Fourth Kind" is an alien abduction film 'somewhat' based on real life events, with an out-of-this world twist. The story, set in Nome, Alaska, is loosely based on the mysterious disappearances of 24 people in the town. The FBI did investigate the disappearances, which took place between the 1960s and 2004, and concluded in 2006 that "alcohol" was common factor in most of the disappearances. Before the FBI concluded the investigation, it was believed that the deaths and disappearances were the work of a local serial killer.
The movie is based on the theory that the missing-persons cases were actually alien abductions. "The Fourth Kind" hit theaters on November 6, 2009 and featured "archival footage" of the "most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented." The 'footage' is that of hypnotherapy sessions between a "Dr. Abigail Tyler," played by Milla Jovovich, and patients who claimed they were abducted. The aliens in the movie spoke the long-lost Sumerian language.
True Story: The FBI and Missing Villagers in Nome Alaska
In 2005, the FBI sent homicide detectives to investigate a series of unsolved disappearances and deaths in Nome, Alaska. Most of the victims were Native villagers. Between the 1960s and 2004, over 20 people mysteriously died, or vanished. In 2006, the FBI concluded that "excessive alcohol consumption and a harsh winter climate" were to blame for the disappearances.

In the movie "The Fourth Kind," Milla Jovovich plays Dr. Abigail Tyler, the Nome, Alaska, psychiatrist who stumbles upon the 'alien abduction' link between her patients, during clinical hypnotherapy sessions. If you search for Dr. Abigail Tyler, Nome Alaska, a website called "Alaska Psychiatry Journal" provides a "biography" of Dr. Tyler with "related articles" on the topics of sleep disorders, emotional issues, hypnotherapy and regression therapy. However, the website does not have a homepage or contact information. The website was registered on GoDaddy in August 2009. A real online-medical publication would have such information, so this leads to the conclusion that the website is a viral marketing ploy, much like the promotion for the upcoming "2012" movie and the for "Institute for Human Continuity." Sorry to burst your bubble, but this doesn't rule out that Dr. Tyler 'could' have been based on a 'real' doctor; but if there were, the true account would have made for a much more interesting find.
Overall, I love a good horror/sci-fi flick whether it is true or not. This one looks promising. Check out the trailer below.

The so called REAL sumerian words were made up from Zacharia Sitchins works of fiction (which he likes ot pass of to guillable people as genuine) This person has no credibility in the Sumerian world at all. He lied about his qualifications, said he got his ancient history degree from the University of London? His degree was actually in ECONOMIC history and this does not go any further than 1750AD! The only place in London that teaches Sumerian history is the London College of Oriental and African Studies!

The sad truth is that indigenous peoples throughout Alaska and Canada are plagued with rampant alcoholism. Wandering off shellacked is a common occurrence. Alaska is unforgiving. People with no knowledge of northern climes or rural (rural reservation) living won't buy it, but it is completely believable. An entertaining flick, but unfortunate that it chose to attempt to dupe the public. It would be interesting to get statistics as to how many people came out of the theatre actually buying it, fake,"real" footage and all, hook,line and sinker. Fascinating!

When supposed "real" video is shown from a consumer camcorder and the audio sounds good (as was portrayed in this movie) and free of noise or reverberation, it's fake. No software can make consumer camcorder audio sound like it was professionally mic'd.
ermm watched the film and sorry to say this but i think it is very fake sorry, how could she make that error that her husband was murdered when he took his own life ........... and her daughter going missing............ her best friend who is also a doctor could not back her story strange and she is still a doctor thats wrong i f eel she is mentally ill. Yeah, I don't think you can always beleive what the FBI has to say! My view is that with so many people reporting UFO sightings and abductions - theres a pretty good chance there is some truth in it. What I can't seem to find is the result of expert and INDEPENDENT scrutiny of the 'actual' footage used in the movie. Has the footage been edited in any way or is what we see exactly and only what the camera recorded? And if it hasn't been edited in any way then either its damn freaky or they are pretty good at scream-acting!!! The other thing that crosses my mind is that humanity tends to have a very narrow view of things - hey we used to think the world was flat, that our planet was the centre of the universe. Now we know differently. Now even most astrologers say to think we are the only intelligent life (if you could call us that!) is ridiculous. The next logical step in our evolution? - to realise that there just might be something in the millions of reported sightings and experiences over the past 50 yrs, and yes, aliens are hanging round Earth. But I guess its much easier to NOT believe in something that scares you, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Whether this film is true or not, we should keep an open mind about what's possible in the universe.

OK, say the movie was fabricated, then explain to me all the graphic art in remote places of the planet that can only be seen clearly from high in the sky, or the crop circles documented. If as they say, we, the human race, go through periods of understanding, then through dark ages where history books are burned, who is to really say we are not just rediscovering what we already knew.

We all like to be shocked, scared, and most of all like to come out of a movie theater with some sort of personal truth in the story telling. The producers got the expected result, they created a fake website, they used fake, locations, they reported, uncreditable FBI investigations losely based on disapearences, most of all they got the desired effect. That is it got people talking about the movie, and word of mouth spread and more people went to see the movie. It's great, that you can get this type of sensation. So my point is, we go to movies, and rent movies to be entertained, and we got just that.
Even though there is not a shread of truth in what was depicted in the film. Lights , Camera , Action, give us more.

I have experienced sightings and unexplainable events on the reservation i was born in and it is truely something VERY real! There are so many possibilites in this world and it's crazy to strike an alien species off that list of possibilties.

what you'll find out is how the minds of the indigenous people are susceptible to certain mind invasion: and the aliens know this. If there is a lot of drinking in this area (its because of the depression) they are dealing with more than we can see, or are willing to accept.
The only way most humans will accept alien presence is when it happens to them and they remember the whole account.

While watching the movie, the police officer stationed outside the Tyler home was recording .. At 3:33 am he claims to see something pulling them from the home but what is confusing is that the recording (while being recorded) showed nothing and then later on in the movie, they show the play back and you could see some sort of 'flying saucer' near the top of the house .. the movie-makers obviously made mistakes .. I don't believe this particular movie but I believe that we aren't the only 'intelligent' beings in the universe.
So, this movie IS real. Huh. Well I guess this puts it right next to all the other "real" things. Like unicorns, Santa Claus, and little green cladded men who hide a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow. Sorry but this movie is a bunch of crock and bull. First of all Nome, Alaska isn't even in the mountains, as depicted the first few minutes of the movie. ITS BY THE SEA! Second off both Abigial Tyler's are actresses. Plus they start off the movie saying "In the end it's what you believe." And further more, WHY would you shape your belief in aliens purely based on a movie? Because some chick said they do? And besides, if aliens were real our asses would have already been enslaved. Or dead. Base your opinions on hard cold fact. Not on a whim or because of a movie, not even because 20 odd alcoholic natives stumbled out in a snow storm and weren't recovered (Duh. It's effing Alaska. I live in Nome Alaska. First off like most movies it is NOT filmed in Nome as there are no trees in Nome Alaska. Our environment is tundra and you will not find that amount of trees unless you are close to fourty miles outside North of Nome. Second, I have asked village elders and others that have grown up in Nome all their lives. Some of them Police Officers. No one has ever seen or heard of any FBI doing investigations of missing people that fit this story. As far as Jakeyp and your comment... People do dissapear in Nome because of the harsh winter weather. Alcohol is the prime cause of this. Natives from other villages come in and get trashed because their villages are "dry" meaning they are not supposed to drink. They wanter out into the tundra and get lost, others decide to take a walk out on the baring sea when it is froze over and get lost as well and either freeze to death or fall through some cracks that can be rather large in the ice. For those who assume any of the footage is real, you are assuming wrong. I have checked up on this in depth. There is no evidence at all of any truth. There have been missing people and many murders. There have been snow machine accidents where people are never found. My advice! Come to Nome and ask around. Take the time to walk into the tundra with some snow shoes while intoxicated and see if you lose your ability to know where North is.. Then see if you can find your way back without freezing to death... Good luck with that!

Listen, I hav a BS in Behaveral Psych. I am sorry there are too many things to explain away. Granted, there is a "alot:" of Hollywood to explain in the movie. The one thing I can't shake away is the Sumrian connection. Do the research for yourself. You will find in exhibits or even on line that are disturbing. having had an encounter of the 4th kind, i can tell you this movie is filled with truths and hyperbole. one truth is that we have had extraterrestrial visitors for thousands of years and that they have been abducting people throughout. i don't believe any government knows what theyre doing, they just know that we are being visited. no alien entities have established direct contact with any governments - this i know.
many different species are visiting yet they all behave the same. strange. all we can do is guess about their intentions, nothing more. but if they wanted to take our world they would have long ago. they don't. who knows, perhaps they gave us our world?
