A seven member expert committee recommended by National Academy of Engineering had given a report to President Obama about “how to deal with offshore drilling safely”, after the Gulf of Mexico oil leak crisis.
President Obama and his White House took the report given by the seven experts, changed it on their own, and added two paragraphs of recommendation on their own. The two paragraphs self-added by the White House to the report called for 6 month drilling moratorium, including halt to current drilling operations, and halt to issue of permits for new wells being drilled using floating rigs. The edits made by the White House to the report were not revealed to the seven member expert committee.
The White House then lied to the American public that the 7 member expert committee has recommended a six month drilling moratorium.
The seven member expert committee came out and blasted the White House for falsifying their report, and misrepresenting their position.
The expert committee declared that
“the Obama administration misrepresents their position and that halting the drilling is actually a bad idea.”
The experts added:
"None of us actually reviewed the memorandum as it is in the report, What was in the report at the time it was reviewed was quite a bit different in its impact to what there is now. So we wanted to distance ourselves from that recommendation."
The experts added
“Because the floating rigs are scarce and in high demand worldwide, they will not simply sit in the Gulf idle for six months. The rigs will go to the North Sea and West Africa, possibly preventing the U.S. from being able to resume drilling for years. the best and most advanced rigs will be the first to go, leaving the U.S. with the older and potentially less safe rights operating in the nation's coastal waters”
Obama administration’s Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, after being caught in act lying and falsifying the report, apologized to the seven member expert committee and said
“"The experts who are involved in crafting the report gave us their recommendation and their input and I very much appreciate those recommendations. It was not their decision on the moratorium. It was my decision and the president's decision to move forward."
Looks like President Obama wants to run the country Chicago style. He bribed Senators like Mary Landrieu and Ben Nelson to buy their votes to pass Obamacare. He tried to bribe Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania and Andrew Romanoff of Colorado with job offers in his administration, to prevent them from running for US Senate.
This seven member expert committee report alteration and falsification, to pass the drilling moratorium, is the yet another example of Chicago style tactics used by the Obama administration.

Obama lying? Gee what a surprise. What else would a Chicago thug do but lie?
