This talented actor was born Tyrone Charles Stewart Landers. He is a British born American stage and film actor as well as a musician. Landers was born in Kidderminster, UK, and he moved to Southwest Florida in 2001. He made his theatrical debut in 2013 before transitioning to film and television later on that year.
Ty, when did you begin acting and why?
"I began acting after taking a class in December 2012. My motivation for taking the acting class was to conquer my social anxiety and fear of people. I have thankfully come a long way since that time."
As an actor what gigs have you done lately, and how much do you like/love the art?
"My last three shows were in Naples, although I live near downtown Fort Myers. It's an hour trip for me. None of these shows pay, so it's purely out of love for acting that I have made these long commutes for rehearsals and performances 4-7 days a week. I have given up a number of things in order to pursue my acting dreams, but I do not regret any of it."
How often do you act, and do you only act on stage?
"I've been acting non-stop since April 2013. I've acted in play after play, plus a TV commercial or two in-between."
Do you stick to one kind or style of acting, and what are some of the productions you have been a part of?
"No I don't stick to one kind of acting. I enjoy playing different kinds of roles and not getting bogged down into a 'type.' What I love about acting is how it challenges me in every way possible.
The show 'Afterlife of the Rich and Famous' was an original play written by local playwright Laura Lorusso. I had the privilege of getting the lead in this never before seen play. Laura won the 48 hour playwriting competition at the Laboratory Theater of Florida and is currently writing a play, 'Scrooge TV: A Modern Christmas Carol.' It will be premiered Christmas 2014."
Thank you Ty Landers for taking the time to share with us. For such a short time that you have been acting you have truly been very busy, and from the looks of it you are a very talented and "capable" actor as well!
The United Film & Television Artists (UFTA) was contacted by Landers. He hopes to soon visit and maybe even join the organization. UFTA is a non-profit entertainment group that stresses supporting all those in or interested in all areas of the entertainment industry.
One of Landers' theatrical productions he has been involved with recently is "Moon Over Buffalo." It will be held at The Naples Players in Naples from April 23-May 17. Two other productions are "Distracted" and "Stage 2 Improv." The first production ended April 19, but the latter will be June 5-21.
