International Tennis Hall of Famer, Jennifer Capriati, 36, may soon be arrested by the North Palm Beach Police Department in connection with the alleged Valentine’s Day battery and stalking of her former boyfriend and FSU golfer, Ivan Brannan, at a Palm Beach gym, Gossip Extra reported on March 9.
The North Palm Beach PD is seeking an arrest warrant for Capriati now.
Reportedly, Capriati and Brannan were having an argument at the Oxygen Health and Fitness gym which evolved into Capriati striking the former beau with clenched fists several times.
One of the gym’s yoga instructors broke up the fracas, which is when “Brannan, 28, ran into the locker room for cover and called 911.” The yoga instructor told police that “Capriati definitely struck Brannan.”
Capriati left the scene but was stopped not too far away from the gym by the police who ended up letting her go for lack of a warrant.
Capriati has since secured legal counsel.
Brannan previously tried for a restraining order against his former girlfriend, a request which was ultimately denied by a Palm Beach County Circuit Court judge.
Both the Riviera Beach and Palm Beach Gardens police departments have undertaken separate investigations between Capriati and Brannan. In one investigation, Brannan claims that Capriati called him at his place of employment more than 100 times in one day.
Late in the evening of March 8, Capriati issued a statement through her publicist Natalie Mikolich:
“The current facts being circulated by Mr. Brannan are an over-exaggeration and the police report is one-sided in Mr. Brannan’s favor since they failed to get Ms. Capriati’s side of the story.
“We will make sure that Ms. Capriati’s side of the story is fully conveyed and when the truth comes out she will be vindicated from these charges.”
Fla. prosecutors are currently reviewing the stalking and battery charges lodged against Capriati and will decide in the next few days whether or not to proceed with an arrest.
Jennifer Capriati is a former World No. 1 professional tennis player, and the winner of three women's singles championships in Grand Slam tournaments. She made her professional tennis debut in 1990 when she was 13-years-old.
