One of the up and coming places to visit in Costa Rica is Dominical. The completion of the coastal highway allows visitors to reach the city within three and a half hours from the San Jose Airport on some of the best roads in the country. Get away from it all here – but not too far. There are still plenty of places to stay and activities when you want them.
This was a sleepy little fishing village until the surfers discovered it. This is a great place to surf. There are a variety of beaches for every experience level.
The beaches are phenomenal even if you don’t surf. Playa Ventanas (Windows Beach) has beautiful sea caves that line the beach and during certain tides, some create a “blowhole” effect.
Other water activities include: kayaking, fishing. snorkeling and diving. Two nearby rivers provide opportunities to go white water rafting.
Many people headquarter themselves here to visit National Parks. Manuel Antonio and Ballena National Marine Park are the closest, but five others make easy day trips from Dominical.
Land activities include: horseback riding, tree climbing, bird watching and zip lining.
After all this activity you can pamper yourself with a yoga class or at a local spa.
