In the past three articles, we have seen how Peruvian composer Jimmy López has been creating ripples in the world of classical music. A composer for the times, representative of the emerging Latin American reality, Jimmy López combines traditional sounds and rhythms from the Andes with those brought to life by the 21st Century as is the case with Tekno. Jimmy López's music is a fusion of sounds and rhythms that have an original and unique voice, one that speaks loudly and clearly in the sometimes convoluted world of classical music.
Miguel Harth-Bedoya and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) are currently recording an album of Jimmy López's works which will include, among others, Peru Negro and Lord of the Air. The release is scheduled for the summer of 2015 under the Harmonia Mundi record label.

Donaueschinger Musiktage 2009
Jimmy Lopez's "Incubus III", for clarinet, percussion and electronics has been commercially released as part of a three-volume series that includes a selection of works from the 2009 Donaueschingen Contemporary Music Festival. Incubus III (tracks 6 to 11) was produced in cooperation with the SWR Experimental Studio Freiburg.
MUSUQ PERU (or "New Peru" in Quechua), is a collection of four compositions by Jimmy López. Jimmy's music honors his Latin-American heritage while at the same time reflecting the multiculturalism and perpetual motion that shape modern life. All four works on this CD are world premiere recordings.
