Chris Hemsworth is the stunning star of "Rush," a hot and happening action thriller full of complex emotions and a rivalry relationship. Director Ron Howard ("Frost/Nixon," "A Beautiful Mind") has made a departure from his usually more somber fare. "Rush" chronicles the 1976 Formula One championship between arch rivals James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl), two trust fund Europeans.
Ron Howard said, “If the story weren’t true, nobody would believe it.” He’s right. These guys are so extreme with their myopic focus it becomes a near fatal contest of wills.
Lauda is brusque with a fetish for precision to the point that he comes across as an unlikable jerk, but that doesn't mean you won't love staring at his neuroses.
Race car drivers as well as any other supremely successful person, are driven, excuse the pun, beyond reason. It is an obsession where everything and everyone else suffers, for example wives. Olivia Wilde stars as Suzy Miller, Hunt's mostly miserable wife and Alexandra Maria Lara as Lauda’s suffering spouse Marlene.
If you loved 2011's Formula One movie "Senna" you'll go crazy for "Rush."
