"Fancy Nancy: The Musical," an hour long play for children ages three and up newly opened at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on 2162 Broadway at 76th Street on September 14, 2013, is based on the ultra-popular series of children's picture books, with Book and Lyrics by Susan DiLallo and Music, Lyrics and Orchestration by Danny Abosch.
The show is described as:
Fancy Nancy and her friends, Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel are going to be performing in their very first show, "Deep Sea Dances." Nancy is positive, that's fancy for 100 percent sure, that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn't the one she wanted?
But, it is actually a great deal more than that, especially for New York City kids and parents.
"Fancy Nancy: The Musical" is a fun, funny, toe-tapping, finger-snapping, showtune singing, tap dancing, pretty costumes, colorful sets, laugh-out-loud and sneakily educational whirlwind of a good time (plus the cast signs autographs later in the lobby)!
And that's just on the surface.
