Las Vegas Metro police said a man committed suicide at approximately 9 pm Monday night by jumping off the 11th floor of the El Cortez Hotel - Casino located in downtown's Fremont Street area. The man struck the pavement on Ogden Avenue near 6th Street below the hotel structure.

Police did not release the man's name and the pending official cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's office within a few days.

Disturbingly, this is the third successful suicide attempt involving jumps from Las Vegas building structures within the last nine weeks. Earlier suicide victims included men who jumped from the Cosmopolitan fourth floor on March 4 and from the Caesars Palace parking garage on April 23 .
