Most American news outlets reported that thousands of angry republicans converged on the Washington mall to protest Obama. Can we just for once get an accurate account of what is happening in our country from our own news? Do we have to turn to foreign press to get the truth?
An estimated 2 to 3 million people gathered on the Washington mall on Saturday, 9/12 to protest many things. A growing majority of people are very angry and very concerned about both parties in this country. Its true Fox news jumped on the bandwagon after Obama was elected and about one third of those people were there because of the 912 project put together by Glenn Beck but that isn’t what sparked Saturday’s event.
In 2007 a Republican Congressman from Texas named Ron Paul hit the scene. Through the internet his campaign took off and was largely ignored by the media including Fox news and Glenn Beck. When Ron Paul raised the most money from troops over seas than any other candidate republican or democrat and raised the most money in a single day on the internet the media had no choice but to cover him, then they tried to discredit him. Glenn Beck ripped on Ron Paul and made fun of his followers. They said Ron Paul was crazy for predicting the recession.
His message of limited Government, lower taxes, and free markets is what drew people to his campaign. Americans who believed in the message of freedom watched as Ron Paul was excluded from the Fox news debate and watched as every news outlet tried to make fun of the man. Jay Leno came to the rescue that time and asked Dr. Paul to be on his show to talk about it. Ron Paul was said to be the only guest to actually meet and greet people, ever. The Ron Paul revolution as it was called even raised the money to rent a blimp because of the lack of coverage he was receiving while Fox news tried desperately to push their guy McCain.
The first Tea Party protest was held by Ron Paul supporters December 13, 2007 for what they called a “money bomb.” People dumped boxes labeled taxes, war, big Government into the Boston harbor. If you had been part of the Ron Paul experience back then you would be torn right now. You would probably be wondering first why is Glenn Beck all of the sudden telling the truth and why has Fox news jumped on board? Shawn Hannity was chased by Ron Paul Supporters so why is he suddenly on board? Next you would be asking yourself how did Fox news get all those people to do what they made fun of the Ron Paul supporters for doing? It seems kind of funny how that works doesn’t it. Are people really that blind to need to follow someone? Can’t Americans think for themselves? On one hand it’s nice to have some support. On the other it makes you wonder what Fox is up to. Hopefully the Fox crew decided Ron Paul was right and it isn’t some clever scheme to fool conservatives again.
Without harping on what could have been, the people were in Washington to protest Washington. They are tired of the spending, taxing, corruption, lobbying, and above all just plain treasonous behavior by politicians. You do not need to belong to a political party to be against all of those, you don’t even need to be American to be against all of those, but you do need to be American to vote. Many are saying what you saw in Washington on Saturday is a new revolution. Let’s hope they make the right decision at election time instead of voting for the same old party hacks.

Great article. Thanks.
I agree 100 percent, those who are early to the revolution remember the establishments ridicule. We are not party followers, nor talking media dittoheads, we are the people, we are free, we demand a following of the constitution, and we will not be fooled by thee fly by nighters who think they can talk the talk, then never walk the walk. I watch the race for Kentucky, outsider Rand Paul against insider Trey Grayson, they still will not allow the people a strong voice, and until they cahnge there foreign policy(the litmis test for our revolutionaries) then they are nothing more than puppets to the controllers.
Great article thanks for the truth.
Good article! The momentum is growing...it will be interesting to see what the tea party movement turns into.
Nice to hear some one say it. Thanks.
thank you robert for a great article and for bringing home
how much dr. ron paul has done for our once great nation.
i have supported ron paul for many years and what he has accomplished is truly amazing. he has brought the issues that desperately NEED to be addressed to the forefront.
he went into his campaign and as did his supporters knowing full well the risks involved for telling it like it is.
at 74 he is probably in the best shape of any in the congress and his message remains the same and always has since day 1.
more and more people throughout our country are coming to realize that his philiosophy of liberty, properity and peace IS what we all need.
more and more people throughout the country are coming to realize that he is telling the truth and that it is hard to hear and that it NEEDS to be heard.
our country is in great peril. we have already hit the berg. if we do not follow his lead we are lost.
dr. ron paul is a statesman.
dr. ron paul is a magni
This not about Ron Paul, Glenn Beck or others but real people movement who are afraid of loosing freedom and about corrupt politicians in Washington DC.
Wow, great article. Until people realize that left vs right, Democrat vs Republican are both phony choices, we will continue down this dead end path. Read Dr. Paul's books, listen to his Youtube videos, learn we citizens are NOT represented but
being used by a Oligarchy who have an agenda. Good luck.
Thank you Robert. You finally talk about the things we have been wanting to hear. It appears someone took the Ron Paul Revolution and televised it on FOX with a different head! Though I am ever grateful that Glenn Beck has awakened all of the wonderul Tea Party people that we are working side by side with in order to gain our country back and certainly our CONSTITUTION......I can't help but feel uneasy --what exactly is Rupert Murdock up to? And did a 50 Million dollar contract make a Patriot? Or is a Patriot being paid 50 million by a Globalist in some sort of Judas Goat grand scheme? What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Good article. More people are waking up to the fact that our news sources are either NOT reporting the news; slanting the facts; or out-and-out lying. I wanted to post your article on a new media site, but The Examiner utilizes frame busters, so I could not do it. Maybe I will find your article on a blog somewhere and be able to post it from there.

Makes one wonder IF Fox had done their job and gave Dr. Paul the respect his platform deserved when he first threw his hat into the ring, that we might of had a different election outcome and we wouldn't be facing this mess now!!!
Richard s- you are correct but I had to give credit where it is due and hopefully warn people to be weary the next time they go to vote. Don't let the media, Fox or otherwise make up your minds. Do the research.
dandan- Can you post the link? If not, email me and I will send you the story.
This a joke everyone know there was not 2 to 3 million people there marching. You could tell by the videos. Please I Know Beck wanted more people there but do we really have to exaggerate the numbers to try to show there are more supporters. The TV video speaks for itself. The mall was not as full as it was for the inauguration. Please remember you are supposed to be a part of the media and report facts not fiction
Cheryl, look at some old shots from high up above the "million man march" that MLK spoke at. Aerial shots of the crowd (not news camera crap, surveillance footage mostly) shows the surface area covered by this group was much higher than the surface area covered by the million man march. So, facts disprove your claim.
Thank you for the fair and balanced article! (It was encouraging to see after all the ridicule from the MSM and Fox). Alas, there are still not enough apparently to prevent the gutting of the Constitution. Living document, Indeed! If it is a living document, then Genetically Modifying it will turn it into a hazard, at best and a monster at worst (especially if melded with thhe Communist Manifesto). It has already been abused enough as it is.
All of you have lost your mind. You are so full of lies; it is not funny. It was only estimated by the police 60,000 at least but their were other groups their not your tea parties. Their were war protesters and there were President Obama Supporters. So stop LYING. You are not fulling any one but yourselves.
When former Bush was In office; where the hell were you? That is why America is in bad shape. President Bush has raped, robed, turned you all into a poster child of a child that got left behind.
The Far Right is so "Willingly Ignorant" you all don't read. They just listen to fox news(which they are not) and take them at their word. Your the ones who are sheepish and disregarding logic. You have turned into "Brute Beast" that do not understand anything. Wake the freak up! America has had it with you and your ignorance. And by the way; the more you speak, the more the world laughs at us because of you all, the fringe element who don't have a clue.
Ah, it's good to see the liberals dragging themselves out of bed at the crack of noon to ensure they get their opinions on every board. Once we get some updated photos of later in the event, we shall see. Apparently, someone decided to block off the grassy areas between the reflecting pool and the Washington Monument with barricades. The crowd was underestimated. Once I scan CSPANs video library we run better calculations.
@Logic101: When Bush was in office I was standing right next to you, protesting the war.
I'm still protesting the war, so the real question is; where are you?
You've got to be kidding. Why would the Examiner spread such ridiculous numbers. The official estimate is around 60,000. That is about 1,940,000 people off! Do they think we are idiots?
Working to find and help the next President of the United States.
to get elected!
What is Fox up to? Hmmm... how to scuttle a genuine reform movement. Rule #1 - pack the ranks with uninformed (or misinformed) idiots who will make the legitimate and informed protesters look bad through association. Rule #2 - get the idiots to do something violent and/or stupid, thereby justifying police crackdowns, media punditry, and encouraging the opposite effect of what the original protesters intended. Rule #3 - use sensationalist morons to push it further towards insanity, until most of the original protesters are so disgusted by what their movement has evolved into that they leave... and hopefully, if you're on the side of the counter-revolutionaries and COINTELPRO guys, the idiots will go after the defectors, thereby solidifying the mess and permanently shutting down your opposition.
It's the 60's all over again. Just with Twitter. If you want to succeed, protesters, you need to anticipate the dirty tactics and stay one step ahead of even your own supporters.
@Logic101: We still have a war to end, get back in line.
rex84;
Flash; you can not just withdraw from Afghanistan just like that. It doesn't happen that way. Since President Bush took his eye off of Afghanistan and went into Iraq for a LIE we have to make up for what we have lost. further more; Al-Qaeda is still out their and in the borders of Pakistan. So what we have now are bad options or worse options but we must have workable solutions to this problem.
Logic101, did you read the article?
"When ... Bush was In office; where the hell were you? "
We were organizing Tea Parties and protesting our unconstitutional government INCLUDING involvement in an illegal war! Since December 2007! We marched on Washington in July of 2008! We could've used your help! Where were you?! That you, & the media outlets you trust, chose to ignore us, is not our fault.
"They just listen to fox news..."
Fox news marginalized & ridiculed us! They refused to allow Ron Paul into the NH debate even though he was polling higher than others they let participate! Glenn Beck called us terrorists! When they saw that our movement was gaining more and more power, they decided to try & hijack it, and alter it for their own purposes. Please get yourself informed. It is you that is being fooled, by the mainstream media. YOU didn't get our current president elected! The media did!
Paul's article ends with the hope that people will vote correctly in 2010. We agree. So here in Fremont County, Colorado, we've started the Tracker Project.
We simply keep track of the voting record of the politicians Americans send from Colorado and the other states to Washington DC. We only keep track of the major bills -- the ones that are familiar to most people.
So far it's just:
[1] The TARP (Bailout) Bill
[2] The Stimulus Package
[3] The Give Act (mandatory service for kids)
[4] Cap-and-Trade Bill (Senate hasn't voted on this yet)
Volunteers can track other bills, too, if they want to.
All the info is on the internet. We just have to get some info from here and some from there and put it all into charts for each
state.
We have some states that are not adopted yet, so we're seeking more volunteers to help us with this Tracker Project. You can pick any state that is not already adopted.
Email penknife101@yahoo.com if you will adopt a state.-Dusty Foster
Valli;
The Media which is mostly republican owned; did not elect President obama, it was the people elected President Obama not the media.
Plus Ron Paul is playing the same card as the rest of the republicans are playing but in a slicker way. I don't trust Ron Paul at all.
Mark Twain:
"In the beginning of a change, The Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."
(And in the case of FOX news, it improves your ratings while you dilute the true message, which is; End unconstitutional government policies and interventionist foreign policies!)

10,000 or so Ron Paul supporters marched on DC in July 08 to protest big government, the Federal Reserve, and in support of liberty. The Tea Party people of today are late to the game, but I welcome their sentiment.
Logic101, valli was right. I was also there when GW was in office, fighting the good fight for liberty. This is NOT a left v. right thing. This is an individualism v. collectivism issue and has been all along.
STOP THE LIES!! I am really sick and tired of this irresponsible journalism. There were barely over 50,000 people there.
ABC news as well as the DC police reported 1.5 to 1.7 million marched on Washington

Logic101, can't blame you for distrusting republicans but the 2 party system is itself corrupt. They discriminate against 3rd party candidates, forcing them to spend most of their campaign money challenging lawsuits in EVERY state, JUST TO GET ON THE BALLOT! This is not democracy!
You say "Ron Paul is playing the same card as the rest of the republicans...", but you probably aren't aware of how the GOP cheated and broke their own rules during the primaries, in order to prevent Ron Paul from having much success. Because the Repubs & Dems are essentially "clubs" there's no legal recourse for this abuse. Since the election Ron Paul is the only candidate to maintain & increase his following. Now the neocons that ridiculed & cheated us, want to claim our movement & pervert it (as seen on TV).
Ron Paul speaks plainly. His voting record & past statements are consistent & lobbyists don't come to him. You can't say this about Obama, McCain, Clinton(s) or any mainstream candidate.
Valli - well stated. Ron Paul is consistent and lobby-proof. I hope we get more like him in the 2010 elections. would like to see freedom in my lifetime. Actually "Freedom In Our Lifetime" is one of the slogans of Liberty Works Radio Network. It is good to see people wanting to make comments on blogs. We need the same people to get talking on Talk Radio. I do it whenever I have a chance. LWRN.net will get you to the internet broadcast. If you live in Ocala/Tampa area you are lucky. It is broadcast on 104.3 FM.
logic 101... you need more logic... you are referring to an individual as a collectivist group.
That is what campaign for liberty is standing up for... individual rights... we see people like you critisizing a whole group of people as if they can be put in a little box and tossed around.. That is the real ignorance.
I would say you need to read some Aristotle, and get a grip man..
and how can you be anti war for one big government politician, and totally pro war for the other..
Logic 101 seems to be a flip flopper on the war issue..
Oh yea notice, how we have a sudden influx of civilian contractors in Iraq right now.
So logic 101 next time you call millions of people "willingly ignorant", maybe you should play devils advocate and figure out what these millions of people see and what you don't..
Shouldn't be that hard with our technology today.
"An estimated 2 to 3 million people" by who's estimates Park police told some reporters that is was around 25 to 32 thousand, and DC fire department posted that the estimate was around 50 to 70 thousand for the whole day. With 451 buses charted and most only half full this was an absolute failure it was so bad that Fox news had to pull old file footage from March 15 2009 peace day and ran the traffic cam many spotted that the flag was at half staff. A quick check at traffic-cam website showed a different and much lighter crowed.
Even the "million man march" beat out the attendance of this non-event. If you compare pictures of the Obama inauguration and photos from this gathering you'll notice the crowd is much thinner in appearance, despite false estimates from the teabaggers that meet or exceed the documented attendance of the inauguration.
Is this what you guys are talking about? cspan.org/Watch/Media/2009/09/12/HP/A/23055/FreedomWorks+Rally+in+DC.aspx
If so, what kind of crowd numbers does that look like?
Unlike most politicians, Ron Paul has integrity. Ron Paul was right. America, especially the GOP, was wrong for not rallying behind him.

It is interesting how FOX has come around to support a movement started by Ron Paul and his supporters in 07....
Its interesting for a network that wanted to exclude Paul from the debates and that tried to discredit him with people like Shawn Hannity (remember Shawn saying the automated polls...FOX's own polls.....must be wrong because Paul could not have won the debate?) So I have to say I am suspicious of FOX and Beck who now seem to be rallying behind the cause of limited government and responsible spending. Or...maybe they have just caved to the overwhelming support for this movement. Though...they still do not bring up the war issue. We can't fix the economy while spending trillions overseas in foreign involvements, whether it be fighting wars or subsidizing other countries with weapons and money (the U.S. is the largest weapons exporter in the world.) FOX will not touch this issue (nor any of the other networks) because they don't want to be viewed as unpatriotic nor do
How many are at home who agree with the marchers in events such as 9/12? And who has the numbers on the Viet Nam War protest days marches in DC? Last question, how many of the people who comment on here are plants to discredit and discourage the ground-swell of true Americans that (from all political puruasions) supported the Paul run for the nomination in '08?
Neocons in libertarian clothing like beck undermine the strong and honest efforts of the paulies, beck will turn back towards the Faux news agenda once he feels he has taken his power grab as far as he can.
To the paulies I say keep going. Keep the bba.stards honest, don't let the beck fans hijack the revolution with god/war rhetoric
Robert Rule you have hit the nail square on the head with this article. Thanks! And Ron Paul is too humble to claim the credit himself, but we know who the true leader of the conservative constitution loving party is.
Valli;
The Media which is mostly republican owned; did not elect President obama, it was the people elected President Obama not the media.
a video on i saw on you tube showed the amount of coverage the media devoted to the presidential candidates. the media made candidates as opposed to the people made candidates could be clearly seen as the number of internet searches done for each candidate was also included. obama millary and mccain were media candidates voted on by people whose sole aimin voting is to noat waste a vot. the people that did the homework voted for ron paul. his internet searches were waaay higher than the media darlings and his media coverage was almost zilch.
The folks trying to downsize the crowd at the 9-12 rally are likely the same hired moveon.org thugs who were paid $15 an hour to try and disrupt the Sovereignty or Secession Rally in Austin. Those of us who stand for individual liberty, for an end to government run amok -- it's time we simply stopped arguing with these folks. They're not going to listen. Ignore them.
There is revolution brewing in this country, and they have chosen the side of the totalitarians.
Thank you Dr. Paul for reigniting the American Revolution. In your debt me and my family will always. Thank you!
