Cognitive dissonance, Hitler-size US war lies, and Truth & Reconciliation

The verifiable facts of US Wars of Aggression documented in my brief “Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Rhetoric for War in Iran” (and myriad other works) lead to two predictable human responses:

  1. Embracing the facts and dealing with the gap between the government we have and the government that could create a virtuous planet for all of us.
  2. Denying the facts and believing in a fantasy government, an honoring of those who fought for the values in the Declaration of Independence and rights in the US Constitution without taking responsibility for their realization.

In psychology, “cognitive dissonance” is defined as the understandable human response of rejecting difficult facts and instead choosing to believe a pleasant fantasy. The preponderance of Americans are suffering from cognitive dissonance regarding current US wars and many related topics. I’ll end this brief article with Hitler’s own explanation.

The contest is for the immediate future: will our nation continue down the path of war, economic controlled demolition, and an agenda that seems committed to increased domination by fascists who consider themselves a “master race” to propagandize their way toward an Orwellian future? Or will a critical mass of people, both inside and outside of government cause a revolution to end current criminality, evil and destruction?

You have a role to play. I encourage you to consider your heart and mind’s highest calling in response. If a revolution is successful, I suggest we have a Truth and Reconciliation (T&R) policy response: a trade-off of people testifying under oath of all that they know of destructive acts within our government in exchange for living the rest of their lives in peace. People may turn-in their own names and the names of others. Those who choose not to cooperate with T&R within an open time window are subject to criminal prosecution. T&R is our best option because the criminal control of government is too large for prosecution (that’ why it hasn’t happened), many people within government want to have a “Scrooge conversion,” this is the best incentive for the criminals to surrender with minimal blood and cost, and T&R moves us the fastest to our using government to collectively build a brighter future. The best explanation is from George Washington’s Blog: http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2009/07/why-we-need-truth-and-reconciliation.html .

And finally, the “big lie” explained by Adolph Hitler:

"All this was inspired by the principle - which is quite true in itself - that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so are brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes."
