Trump International Golf Club will once again host the Puerto Rico Open, a golf event that will celebrate its fourth edition from March 7th through the 13th, 2011 in Río Grande, Puerto Rico.
132 professional golf players will gather at the tournament to compete for prizes valued at $ 3.5 million. The Puerto Rico Open’s winner will earn $ 630,000 and 250 points for the Fedex Cup. The event will be broadcasted through the Golf Channel, reaching an estimate audience of over 500 million homes in 200 countries.
“More than golf… an experience” is the motto for this sports event that in 2011 will incorporate new activities, such as the 5K “Race for Life, from El Yunque to Coco Beach”. The race will be the departure point for a week-long event celebration that will also feature a Pro Am Fishing Tournament, on the golf course’s lakes, where PGA Tour players and sponsors will match their abilities.
In addition to the former, the Puerto Rico Open will include an economic development summit; more family-oriented entertainment activities, like a kids’ golf clinic; new theme bars and restaurants; live music, karaoke, fashion shows and a bazaar; BBQ competitions; a special spouses program; and a more eco-friendly approach.
The Puerto Rico Golf Association hosts the Puerto Rico Open, an event presented by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. The event’s earnings will benefit over a dozen Puerto Rican non-profit organizations.
